1 CHRONICLES MOMENT – (06MAY19) After Uzzah had been struck
down for mishandling the ark, David gave instructions to the Levites as to how
the ark of the Lord was to be handled and to consecrate themselves. The ark
should have never been transported on a cart as they had done before, but was
to be on poles carried by the Levites. This time around, David wanted to be sure
that things were done correctly to avoid the Lord’s anger once again.
The priests were the ones who should have instructed the
Levites as to the proper care, handling and transportation methods of the ark.
Yet, David had to be the one to instruct them as to the Lord’s ordinances. Many
Christians feel as if it is not the president, governors, senators, or elected
officials’ place to instruct in the ways of the Lord. This, however, is pure
error. We have seen so many times with Israel that as the nation’s leader did,
so did the people. Whenever they had Godly leaders, they had a Godly nation,
but whenever they had idolatrous leaders, they had an ungodly nation. The body
of Christ is responsible for setting the pace for the nation. We are to elect
God-fearing leaders who will lead the nation in the right direction. Many
churches have allowed their 501c3’s to dictate what they will speak concerning
this truth and this is why we have become a godless nation. Prayers alone will
not be able to change this nation. God desires true REPENTANCE and to TURN from
our wicked ways. America’s problems, unfortunately, reaches beyond the realm of
mere politics. We need Jesus, and without Him, we are doomed as a nation.
Something to ponder…
QUESTION OF
THE DAY – (06MAY19) David said to touch not God’s anointed ones and to do His
prophets no harm. Many Christians have taken this text to mean that you do not
stand against those who claim to be servants of God when they are in error.
This ideology, however, is not the truth. Israel had a history of hating the
prophets who spoke words of warning against their idol worship. Yet, they did
all kinds of cruel things to them and even killed the prophets for standing
against their sin and for God. Israel was never to despise prophecy nor touch
His anointed ones and they paid dearly for their mistreatment of God’s anointed
ones.
Today, we
have many people who claim to be servants of God and yet, they are scattering
His flock. Some started out as being anointed just as King Saul did and left
the path, while others were never called by God to begin with, but sought after
fame, money, and popularity. God is the One who will distinguish between the
two, but when we see and hear of falsehood being spoken in the name of the
Lord, we must stand against it. Will you stand for Christ? Will you bear
testimony to His truth? Will you be uncompromised in the face of pressure? God
rewards His faithful and to all who endure, they will be richly rewarded in the
end. Something to ponder…
1 CHRONICLES
MOMENT – (06MAY19) David was extremely humbled and grateful that God had chosen
to bless him and his family. He recognized how far the Lord had brought him and
how God had promised to show favor to his future generations. He praised God
for looking down on him as someone exalted above other men. David appreciated the
favor that the Lord had over his life and to this day, the favor of the Lord is
still shown over the house of David because his name has still been known for over
the centuries.
Has God
shown you favor throughout your life? Can you recall times when He established
you in a situation, job, school, relationship, home, or some other area that
would not have been possible without Him? When we get to Heaven, it will be
great to hear the Lord tell us of all the times He showed favor over our lives
when we may have ordinarily not have received it. If it were not for the grace
of God who covered us, many of us may not be here today to testify to His
goodness. What a most wonderful God we serve. Something to ponder…
