2 CHRONICLES MOMENT – (19MAY19) King Manasseh had done great
evil before God and so He allowed for him to be captured by his enemies and put
in shackles with a hook put in his nose. The Lord had sent warnings, but Judah
had not listened. Yet, when Manasseh finally humbled himself with a prayer to
God, the Lord heard from Heaven and allowed him to be restored to his kingdom. Manasseh
got rid of all the detestable idols and altars he had set up and worshiped the God
of Israel.
Sometimes, God has to take drastic measures to get our
attention. He always send small warnings prior to judgment, but when we refuse
to listen to His voice, He will use whatever method He needs to so that He can
get our attention. Knowing this, it is best to submit to God the first time
around than to wait till He brings the ultimate destruction. One way or another,
He will get our attention. We should pray to always be on the right side with the
Lord in case we do not have a chance to repent and ask for His mercy. Something
to ponder…
QUESTION OF
THE DAY – (19MAY19) Sennacherib thought that he could scare Hezekiah and the
people into succumbing to his threats by mocking the king and God. He tried to
make them doubt that the Lord would protect them because he had been victorious
in conquering other nations. Nevertheless, when Hezekiah and the Prophet Isaiah
prayed to the Lord, He heard their plea and sent a death angel to smite the
Assyrian army and their commanders, so Sennacherib had to withdraw in disgrace.
Ask yourself
the question, “What voice do I listen to when life’s challenges present themselves?”
Do I listen to the devil when he tries to tell me that this trial will not pass,
or do I stand on what the Word says and that is no weapon formed against me
shall prosper? Who is actively in your ear? Take inventory of the voices that
you subscribe to rather that be family, friend, or foe. Know that God is with
you and that there is nothing that you can face in life where He does not have
a way for you to make it through. He will never present you with a river where
there is no bridge to cross. You may not see it at first, but as the eyes of
Elisha’s servant had to be opened to see the Heavenly hosts surrounding them, the
Lord sometimes has to open our eyes, so that we can cross the bridge prepared
on our behalf. Something to ponder…
