Read the Bible in a Year (04MAY19)

1 CHRONICLES MOMENT – (04MAY19) A common theme that we find all throughout the Bible, including the book of 1 Chronicles is God’s requirement for us to be FAITHFUL to Him. In chapter 9, we find that the author reminds us of how Israel had been taken into captivity because of their unfaithfulness. We see this theme again a text over in chapter 10 when the author gives the reason for Saul’s death. It was due to his unfaithfulness to the Lord. God is calling for His people to be faithful to Him in every way. We cannot be faithful when we live for Him on Sunday, go back to idolatry by Tuesday, celebrate Him on Wednesday, turn from Him by Friday, and start the cycle over again on Monday. It just does not work. Every day is a day that we are to have God in our hearts, on our minds, in our actions, and in our homes. The Bible says that obedience is better than sacrifice and Jesus is coming after a pure bride without spot or wrinkle. When we are unfaithful to God, we are no longer a pure bride. Our garments are then dirty and need to be taken out to the trash. Yet, when we humbly lay everything at the foot of the cross and ask Jesus to help us to be more like Him, He washes our filthiness and makes us new. We are to live a life of faithfulness to God because He is always faithful to us. Something to ponder…

QUESTION OF THE DAY – (04MAY19) When God established David as King, He was with him all throughout his reign. God allowed him to have the best fighters and gave him countless victories over his enemies. David’s men were mighty warriors and were willing to fight to the death for their king and country. They were recognized for their faithfulness, for their sacrifices were great. Are you a mighty warrior? Are you willing to be a mighty warrior for God? Will you fight to the death for your King? The Bible lets us know to wear the whole armor of God, but we must first have a relationship with Him in order to do so. A king never gives just anyone his armor and expect him to fight. That person has to have committed himself to service, so that loyalty can be established. We too must commit ourselves to service and establish a rapport with our King. Unfortunately, many Christians have gone AWOL (absent without leave) and have joined forces with the enemy. They have been offered prosperity, fame, popularity and a good ole earthy time if they forsake the Lord’s side. They accept the offer because the grass looks to be greener on the other side. Well, it’s an illusion and many will find that they were deceived in the end. Let’s not allow the enemy to steal our medal of honor but remain true to the One Mighty King. Something to ponder…
