Read the Bible in a Year (05MAY19)

1 CHRONICLES MOMENT – (05MAY19) During the time when David was on the run from King Saul, God had given him mighty warriors to fight alongside him. Every day, men from the various tribes came to be a part of David’s army. He was not left alone to deal with Saul or his other enemies by himself because God had skilled warriors to fight with him on every side.

Sometimes the stress of life can cause you to feel alone. You may have a Saul that is after your home, family, marriage, finances, and/or job and it seeks to destroy you on every front. Yet, God has sent His mighty forces to help you where you too are not alone. Sometimes, however, it is hard to see them. This may remind you of the story of Elijah’s servant who could not see the Lord’s army surrounding them, but Elijah prayed for his eyes to be open. Once they were, the servant could see the forces of Heaven who were there to protect his master. It is the same for us. We must pray for God to open our eyes when we face the Sauls of life in order to see that He has sent mighty warriors to stand alongside us in our time of need. Something to ponder…

QUESTION OF THE DAY – (05MAY19) When David became king, God had fulfilled the promise that He had made to him through the Prophet Samuel. Yet, this fulfillment did not come without its challenges. When the Philistines heard that David had become the new king to succeed Saul, they sent their forces after him, but they were unable to overtake David. Why is that? David sought direction from the Lord, and He answered and gave David the victory.

We sometimes ask God for blessings in our life, but just because we receive them, it does not mean that we will not face new challenges. Yet, just as David inquired of the Lord as to if and when he should fight his enemies, we too are to consult the Lord and ask for his guidance concerning the various situations we face in life. Do you present matters before the Lord prior to making decisions? Do you wait on His answer? Do you follow what He tells you? Something to ponder…
