Read the Bible in a Year (20MAY19)

2 CHRONICLES MOMENT – (20MAY19) After King Josiah had set the temple back in order, he decided that he would involve himself in a battle that Necho, the king of Egypt, was waging against one of his enemies. Necho, however, sent a warning to Josiah and told him that it was not wise for him to get involved with the battle and that God was on his side and would destroy him should he intervene. Josiah, however, did not listen to Necho’s warning possibly because he was a Pharaoh who worshiped idols. Josiah disguised himself and engaged the king in battle, only to be fatally shot by expert bowmen.

Sometimes God will use the most unlikely person to deliver a message to us. We tend to judge the exterior or if we think that person has it together spiritually, but God will use anyone or anything to give messages of either encouragement or warnings. Josiah would have been wise to inquire of the Lord for himself, but he did not think that a word coming from an idolatrous king could actually be a warning from God. Just as King Ahab had disguised himself in battle and was still killed by a archer (expert bowman), the same fate was unfortunately met by King Josiah. He had done well in serving the Lord, but he failed to inquire of the Lord at the end which is where he made his fatal mistake.

Many Christians feel as if God cannot use the unsaved to accomplish His will, but God has done so all throughout history. Right now, we have a president where some Christians question his relationship with God, and others think he is a type of Cyrus. Regardless of which, God is using President Trump to bring about the events for the end times. It does not take a righteous man to carry out God’s will, but it does take a righteous discerning Spirit to know when God is in the mix. Something to ponder…

QUESTION OF THE DAY – (20MAY19) Josiah had taken great care to reestablish the celebration of the Passover in Judah. This was to be done annually so that the people would remember that their God delivered them out of bondage from their Egyptian captors. The people had fallen away from honoring God’s feasts and Holy Days as they were supposed to do, so they now had a king who wanted to do right by the Lord in restoring what had been lost. Have you noticed how each generation has fallen more away from God? Did you notice that when prayer was taken out of schools, it was replaced with metal detectors, bomb-sniffing dogs, campus shootings, and juvenile delinquents? Did you notice that when the Ten Commandments and God was taken out of our justice system, that there is very limited justice in the system? Did you notice that when abortion became law, people became more irresponsible in their sexual conduct?

Did you notice that when the T.V. stop going off at midnight, it became more perverse with the accommodation of filth being displayed all across the screen? Did you notice that when the feminist movement came to be, it had many negatives that caused women to feel as if they were to be mostly independent of their male counterparts in contrasts to God’s order in Eden? Did you notice that when the act of marriage was redefined by the Supreme Court then that’s when other perversions started coming more out in the open such as transgenderism, the modification of genders on birth certificates and applications, gender neutral bathrooms, child sexual exploitation, and more? Did you notice that when the preachers stopped preaching on the reality of Hell that the church has actually gone to hell? Yes, when we turn away from God, we open the door for Satan to come in and make common sense less than common, and sin look like holiness. Something to ponder…

2 CHRONICLES MOMENT – (20MAY19) The Lord had sent messenger after messenger, warning after warning to Judah and Israel to straighten up their acts. Instead of humbling themselves, however, they mocked the prophets and despised their warnings until the day when the Babylonians finally came. Yet, God gave them the promise that they would one day return to their land.

The same scenario is taking place today. Many Christians mock the watchmen on the wall who are sounding the alarm. They call many of us doom and gloomers. They prophesy of better days and a restored America, but their are deceiving many in the name brand suits, palace style mansions, luxury vehicles, and fattened bank accounts. It is so important for people to read the Word of God for themselves because most religious leaders are in a world of deception and so are the ones they follow. Be like the Bereans who studied for themselves to see if what the Apostle Paul was teaching them was true. If only more people would open the Word for themselves, they would not be deceived by the tricksters who are out to steal their souls. America is in trouble. The Babylonians are coming. We must all get our spiritual and physical houses in order. Something to ponder…
