1 CHRONICLES MOMENT – (08MAY19) The Lord had told David that
he could not be the one to build His temple because he had been a man of war.
But God was going to allow his son, Solomon, to do it in his place. Therefore,
David took on the task of setting everything in place for his son to be able to
carry out the Lord’s instructions. This included him getting most of the
supplies that he would need, designating duties to the skilled workers who
would be the craftsmen, and ensuring that the priests and Levites were in their
proper roles for the care and service of the temple and the Lord’s people.
David, as Solomon’s father, set the foundation for him to be able to honor the
Lord and His commands.
It is important for parents to follow in David’s footsteps
when it comes to setting for their children a foundation to serve the Lord. One
cannot assume that they will automatically do so if the proper groundwork is
not laid out for them. This means that the parents should instruct their kids
in the ways of the Lord long before they ever go to a school or some other
place of major influence. The devil is after the children in a mighty way and
parents must be diligent in teaching their children the difference between
right and wrong in accordance to the laws of God. If parents fail to teach
their children, the devil has his own instructors who will, and it will be at
their demise. Parents cannot wait for the church to teach them because many
leaders within the church are corrupt themselves. Parents cannot wait for the
school to teach them because the public-school system is subservient to the
devil. Parents cannot expect the television to teach them, or they are
guaranteed to be schooled first-hand from the devil. Parents and grandparents
must open the Word of God with their children and grandchildren to teach them themselves.
Teach children how to pray and fight the enemy because from the time that they
are born, the enemy is after their souls. Something to ponder…
QUESTION OF
THE DAY – (08MAY19) David blessed Solomon and wished for him to have success in
the building of the Lord’s house. He prayed that the Lord would grant Solomon
wisdom and understanding to rule successfully over the Lord’s people and to
obey His commands. David told his son to be strong and courageous because he
knew that leadership was a difficult task due to his own personal experience,
but he uplifted his son and told him to not fear nor be discouraged. Have you
had someone in your life who has encouraged you in the Lord? Have they been a spiritual
mentor, parent, or encourager for you? We all need someone to speak into our
lives just as David did with his son Solomon. We should also be willing to
speak into the lives of others who may need help along their spiritual journey.
God never made us to be islands unto ourselves, but we are to strengthen one
another, especially those who are the closest to you, so that they may be
encouraged to continue following in the ways of the Lord. Something to ponder…
1 CHRONICLES
MOMENT – (08MAY19) When David was old, he made his son Solomon king over
Israel. The mantle that he once carried was now handed down to his successor.
He had done all that he could do to lead Israel in the ways of the Lord and
now, it was time to turn things over to his son whom he had raised to take his
place, and honor the Lord with his life. We as Christians are to be able to
pass the anointed mantle to others as well. How do we do this? We do this by
sharing the gospel with others. We can share the testimony of our lives and how
the Lord brought us through. We can teach others the goodness of the Lord in
the way that we live our lives. We can witness to others about Jesus and help
them to get to know Him. If we do not pass on the mantle, how will others know
about Christ so that the church can grow? It is not about a building – it is
about souls. God want us to win souls for His kingdom so that He will be
glorified. Have you done what you can to pass on the mantle? If not, will you
begin now by witnessing for Jesus? Something to ponder…
