1 CHRONICLES MOMENT – (03MAY19) In 1 Chronicles 7 it takes a
pause from the genealogies while in the Ephraim clan to mention his sons, Ezer
and Elead who were killed by men in Gath due to attempting to steal their
livestock. Gath was Philistine territory and the Philistines were enemies of
Israel. The Bible does not say what led them to do such a thing, but the end
result brought death on the two brothers and caused their father much grief.
This brief information regarding the sons of Ephraim was
very tragic indeed. We know that the Lord had given Israel victory over their
enemies many times throughout Israel’s history, but the victories were due to
the Lord being on their side and nothing was to be done independent of Him. Unlike
Ezer and Elead, we must be careful when we go into the enemy’s (devil) camp. He
plays for keeps and he is trying to collect as many souls as he possibly can.
We should never willingly give him access to us by going on his turf. This
happens when we dip and dabble into satanic things such as going to and
participating in psychic readings, casinos, clubs, bars, having emotional
affairs that eventually lead to physical affairs, dating unsaved people, and
even attending compromised churches. The Bible lets us know that the enemy
comes to steal, kill and destroy. Therefore, we have been warned and should
guard all avenues to prevent entry by arming ourselves in the Word of God.
Something to ponder…
QUESTION OF
THE DAY – (03MAY19) The descendants of Asher were brave warriors who were armed
for battle. Israel always had to be ready to fight against their enemies
because they were on every side – similar to modern-day Israel. Imagine your
home being surrounded by enemies in every house that was in your neighborhood.
This is how it is living in the world we are in today. We are surrounded by
demonic agents on every side. Most people that we encounter are on their way to
a devil’s hell. The Bible clearly lets us know that the path to Heaven is
narrow, but the road to destruction is wide. Yet, we must do all that we can to
help save the lost. Do you have a heart for those who need to know Jesus? He
had a heart for you enough to come to earth to die. Will you do what you can to
prevent others from being lost for all eternity? Something to ponder…
1 CHRONICLES
MOMENT – (03MAY19) In the Benjamite genealogy, the Bible stops at verse 8 of 1
Chronicles 8 to say that Shaharaim had sons after he divorced his two wives
Hushim and Baara. It does not explain the reasons for the divorce nor how they
met. But these two women were officially dumped. We later see that when Jesus
talks about divorce, He does not give a blank check for divorce and remarriage to
take place. “Everyone
who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries
a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery” (Luke 16:18). Jesus did not say
that one could not get a divorce, but He did place instructions as for “remarriage”
after a divorce has taken place. God was the Creator of marriage and He wants
us to be faithful to it as Christ is faithful to His bride. When we make commitments
to each other, God expects us to honor what we say because we are to represent
Him well to others. In both the world and the church, 50% of all marriages end
in divorce, and the percentages are even higher for the second time around.
This is why we must always ask for God’s guidance when it comes to making
decisions in our lives. He knows the plans that He has for us and being within
His perfect will guarantees His best for us. Something to ponder…
