JOSHUA MOMENT – (11MAR19) Moses was dead, but now God was
going to establish Joshua as the new leader of Israel. The Lord wanted the
people to know that He was with Joshua as He had been with Moses. One of the
things God did was to perform a similar miraculous act when they crossed the
Jordan River as He had done with Moses in the parting of the Red Sea. Not only
did this show that people that the Lord was with Joshua, but it showed them the
power of the Lord and that He was to be honored and revered over all else.
Sometimes leaders who have been chosen by God to do a work may be afraid that
they will not be able to take on the task given. They may encounter doubts as
to if they can be as successful as their predecessor, or if they have the
capability because of having less education, skills, experience, etc. One thing
that Christians must keep in mind is that whatever God appoints you to do, He
will ensure that you are able to carry it out and receive the respect for it.
Sometimes He shows you Himself as to how to do a certain task, and other times,
He will put people in your way to be a mentor, guide, or open doors for you to
receive the education to do it. God does not allow our physical limitations to
hinder His divine plans from being established on the earth. All you have to do
is be a willing vessel and He will use you as He sees fit for His kingdom
purpose. Something to ponder…
QUESTION OF THE DAY – (11MAR19) God repeatedly told Joshua
to be strong and courageous because He would be with him. Joshua probably had a
lot on his plate and may have not been totally convinced that he could fill
Moses’ shoes. Yet, God did not expect him to. God was going to establish Joshua
in his own right as leader over Israel. He did not have to feel insecure nor
did he have to compete with a memory. God let Joshua know that he could operate
in full confidence. What has God called for you to do that you may be doubting
your abilities? Where has He told you to go where you are not sure as to the
outcome? Do you not know that you are to also be strong and courageous in the
things God has ordained for you to do? Doubt can cripple you, but faith will
propel you. Something to ponder…
JOSHUA MOMENT – (11MAR19) Joshua sent spies to scout out the
land that God had promised would be theirs. When the spies finished, they went
into the home of a prostitute name Rahab. She had heard of the stories of how
God helped His people from the time they left Egypt until their present status.
She wanted for herself and her family to be saved for she knew that God was
going to give them the land. Rahab helped the spies escape safely and she along
with her family were spared. Rahab, because of her selfless act, became the
ancestor of King David. Many of us may not have sold our bodies in the literal
sense, but we prostituted ourselves in idolatry in other ways against the Lord.
Yet, just as Rahab was saved because she believed, the Lord saved us when we
too believed upon Him. It does not matter what you have done in life, just as
Rahab became the ancestor of the beloved King David, we too are able to be used
by God where we are known for our conversion rather than our sins. Rahab is
mostly remembered not for being merely a prostitute, but for God’s ability to
use her despite her occupation to accomplish His will. God will use you too
despite your former self to accomplish His divine will. Something to ponder…
