Read the Bible in a Year (25MAR19)

JUDGES MOMENT – (25MAR19) A Levite was the guest of an older man living in a Benjamin town called Gilead. He had with him is concubine and servant. During biblical times, concubines were provided for just as a wife was, but did not have the same respect as a wife. Women relied heavily on either the males in their family or a male who would take them as a concubine to survive if they were not the wife. This Levite, was the untimely victim of sinful men who wanted to have sex with him. To avoid such and act from taking place, he sent his concubine to the city men to appease their lustful desires. They raped, abused, and caused her to die. This story is similar to what took place in Sodom and Gomorrah when the men of the city wanted to have sex with the angels. Their sinful lusts cause them to do what should have never been done. Today, we are living in similar times where the LGBTQ agenda is knocking on the doors of people’s homes, churches, businesses, and schools to do what should not be done. They feel that not only do they have the right to live contrary to God, but they are demanding entry into all aspects of society to force others to bow down to this ungodly behavior. Many have caved and given in to their desires by sending out their concubine of compromise to appease their agenda. But in the end, the concubine of compromise will return with a death wish at the door. Temporary appeasement leads to permanent death unless those who claim to be called by God’s name stand up and do something about it. Something to ponder…

QUESTION OF THE DAY – (25MAR19) When the Benjamites did their horrendous act to the Levite’s concubine, he took it upon himself to send a strong message to the tribes of Israel. He cut her up into twelve pieces and sent them out all throughout Israel to get their attention as to the wrong that had been done against him. Israel came together to purge the evil from among them and they sought God’s face to see what to do. When you see injustice taking place in society, do you do what you can to make it right? When sin is taking place in your midst, do you as a Christian stand up against it? When you know that the church is going down the wrong road, do you go into prayer against it? Many people are seeing the demise of our nation, the weakened state of our churches, the disregard for the Lord, and the demoralization of our society and yet, how many are doing anything to fight for the Lord? Have we become too desensitized where nothing phases us or motivate us to act? When we fail to act, we plan to fail, and for this, we will give an account to God for our failure to act on behalf of the Kingdom. Something to ponder…

JUDGES MOMENT – (25MAR19) The Israelites had to fight against one of their own, the Benjamites, in order to right the wrong that had been done. They lost some of their own people in the process because God did not give them the victory right away. It was never God’s plan for the tribes of Israel to have to fight against each other and yet, He gave his approval because of the great evil that the Benjamites had done. Israel, however, did not get an immediate victory. This was a humbling experience because they were defeated twice before they were given the victory. The Israelites wept, prayed, and finally fasted and gave burnt offerings for the sins that had taken place and then God gave the Benjamites into their hands. We as the body of Christ are to stand and fight against wrong, but sometimes, just as the Israelites, that wrong is being done within our own ranks. The Israelites had reached out to the tribe of Benjamin before going to war against them to try to appeal to their sense of loyalty to God, but the Benjamites held loyalty to their tribe over God. The same thing is taking place in the church today. Many Christians are not standing against wrong because their loyalty is to their pastors, bishops, church and leaders rather than to God. Rather than stand for truth, they stand with the workers of iniquity, society’s political correctness, social justice warriors (that aren’t so just), and popular platforms. God, however, is separating the wheat from the tares, the sheep from the goats, and those who are standing for His truth are having to stand against those who call themselves part of His body. This divide is increasing more and more as the world grows darker and darker and as many within the church grow more indifferent and compromised. Nevertheless, God will give us the victory in the end. We may take some hits, we may encounter some losses, some of those who were once strong may even turn away as the pressure mounts, but we are to remain humble, seek God’s face, and allow for Him to direct our path. Those who endure to the end will receive the victor’s crown. Something to ponder…
