DEUTERONOMY MOMENT – (06MAR19) The Lord gave certain rules
that the Israelites were to follow when it came to their everyday living,
interaction with each other, cleanliness, and even when they carried out
capital punishment. A person who had been found guilty of a capital offense was
to be put to death on a pole. They were not to leave the body on the pole (an
upright stake) overnight because that person was under God’s curse but were to
be buried that same day. Jesus died as a criminal who had committed a capital
offense. The Jews followed the law in taking Him down from the cross before
sunset and yet, they were not honorable in keeping the law when it came to killing
an innocent man. Nevertheless, Jesus took the curse for us so that we would not
be bound to the chains of sin, and could have victory over both sin and death
through the blood that He shed. The God who set the laws was misjudged, falsely
accused, abused and killed by ones claiming to keep those same laws. Something
to ponder…
QUESTION OF THE DAY – (06MAR19) Moses told the Israelites
that a woman was not to wear men’s clothing and men were not to wear women’s
clothing. He found this to be “detestable” in His sight. If God did not like
the idea of men and women cross-dressing when He gave these laws to Moses for
the Children of Israel, has God changed? Is God okay with it based on a
person’s preference? Is God okay with it as long as it is for entertainment? Is
God okay with it as long as it has a good message? No! Many Christians excuse
so-called Christian entertainers who cross-dress because they claim that the
movie or play has a “good message,” so that makes it acceptable. Yet, one may
ask the question, “If Jesus was here on earth today, would He cross-dress to
tell the message from His Father?” Did Jesus cross-dress then to give the
Sermon on the Mount? What message are we as Christians actually sending when we
claim to know God and yet, we endorse things that He did and still does find
detestable for the sake of entertainment? Many Christians are going to
entertain their way to hell. Something to ponder…
DEUTERONOMY MOMENT – (06MAR19) Moses reminded the Children
of Israel that Balaam wanted to curse them, but He turned the curses into
blessings for them because they were loved. Many times, people may have spoken
negativity over your life and you may have words swimming around in your head
like a movie marathon running over and over again. Words like: “You’re just
like your no-good father.”
“Your marriage will not work.”
“You will never be loved.”
“You are not a good
daughter.”
“You will never
amount to anything.”
“You will never get
married.”
“You will never get
that job promotion.”
“You do not have enough education to be used by God.”
“You have not changed…you are just like you used to be,” and
the list goes on and on. You may have had a parent speak death over you, a
spouse be unsupportive of you, a boss to demean you, children who devalue you,
etc. Yet, God does not put curses on those He loves and do His will. Therefore,
anyone who has tried to damage your reputation, destroy your character,
sabotage your progress, and discount your abilities are not viewing you through
the eyes of God. Their curses over your life means absolutely nothing to God.
He can turn a curse into a blessing and set a table before you in the presence
of your cursing enemies. Take faith and know that whatever blessings God has
for you, no demon in hell along with his cursing minions can stop it. Something
to ponder…
