DEUTERONOMY MOMENT – (01MAR19) The Israelites were told to
drive out all the foreign nations as God led them and they were never to make
treaties with them. God did this because of the temptation for them to return
to idol worship if they allowed heathen nations to be amongst them. When we
become new creatures in Christ, we to have to drive out old things that would
separate us from the Lord. We are not to look the same, dress the same, talk
the same, act the same, or socialize the same. God has called for us to be a
peculiar people. Many times, the devil entraps Christians because they have not
let go of things that they formerly partook in apart from Christ. They remain
bound by various strongholds such as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the
eyes and the pride of life. Nevertheless, Jesus has given us the ability to
take all thoughts captive and to defeat the enemy on all levels. We must,
however, let go of the things that we know are displeasing to God and have
become our idols, so that we can be free to be victorious against the deceptions
of the enemy. Something to ponder…
QUESTION OF THE DAY – (01MAR19) Moses told the Children of
Israel to love the Lord with all their heart, with all their soul, and with all
their strength. This means that we are to love God with our entire being. Can
you say that you love the Lord with your entire being? Have you completely
given Him your heart or just a piece of it? Have you completely given Him the
very essence of your soul in who you are? Can you say that you love the Lord
with your entire strength because you rely not on self but totally on Him?
Something to ponder…
DEUTERONOMY MOMENT – (01MAR19) Moses went back over the Ten
Commandments so that the Lord’s decrees would be imprinted on the hearts and
minds. He did not want them to forget so that they would not forfeit the many
blessings God had in store for them. Many people are forfeiting Heaven and do
not know it because of their defiance against God. They believe that they are
gods unto themselves and will therefore lose out on an eternity with God. We as
Christians must be mindful to obey the Lord in all that we do because there is
a great reward for those who persevere to the end. Something to ponder…
