JUDGES MOMENT – (18MAR19) The book of Judges was given this
name because of the leaders that God raised up to rescue Israel from their raiders.
Israel fell into rebellion after the deaths of Joshua and the elders who
outlived him. They had not driven out all of the heathen nations as the Lord
had commanded them to do when they possessed the land. The book of Judges tells
of a repeated cycle of Israel’s unfaithfulness, oppression, repentance, and
deliverance. It lets us know that God remains faithful even when we are unfaithful,
and that God’s grace and mercy is always there when He sees that His children
have a repentant heart. Just as God was merciful with Israel, He is the same way
with us today. He sends judgments to wake us up so that we will turn back to
Him, but His mercy is unwavering, and His love abounds forever. Something to
ponder…
QUESTION OF THE DAY – (18MAR19) Judges tells us that another
generation of Israelites grew up who did not know the Lord nor what He had done
for Israel. How could this be? The Children of Israel had turned to idolatry.
Therefore, as the next generation saw the rebellious actions of their parents,
they followed in their footsteps. We too are seeing a generation who do not
know the Lord. Many parents are not teaching their children to follow the ways
of the Lord because they themselves are compromised and full of sin. They do
not make time to talk to their children, read with their children, pray with
their children, and be positive role models for their children. When we see 10-year-old
boys being sexually exploited in front of the camera and paraded in front of
gay lustful men with no type of repercussions, we have become a wicked society
with no moral gauge. Do you teach your children about the Lord? Do you model
the life of Christ in front of them? Do you disagree as parents behind closed
doors rather than in front of the children? Do you watch what games, movies,
music, magazines, books, and websites are displayed in front of your children?
YOU are responsible for the spiritual welfare of your children until they
become of age. What you do or do not allow in your home makes a huge difference
as to what they will know about God. Also, if you know that your children are
being taught to accept sin in school such as LGBTQ history, Islam, transgender
acceptance, anal/oral sex, and other things that have no place being introduced
to children, then YOU are responsible as a Christian to say and do something
about it. We cannot expect the world to do right by God, so it is up to us a
Christians to make a stand for the Lord and for His innocent ones. Something to
ponder…
JUDGES MOMENT – (18MAR19) Each generation got more wicked
after a judge died. The Children of Israel refused to give up their evil idolatrous
ways. They were what God called – a stiff-necked people. This angered the Lord,
so He refused to drive out their enemies any longer and allowed them to suffer
at their hands until they cried out to Him in repentance. Despite the stories
that we read in the Bible, it is sad that we do not have enough Christians
paying attention to how history is repeating itself. Many feel that God would
never judge a nation who has turned away from Him and that Jesus’ death on the
cross gave us the license to sin. Well, they are sadly mistaken. Jesus died so that
we would no longer be enslaved to sin, but we are to be more than conquerors in
Him. You cannot conquer the enemy if you align yourself with him. The
Israelites had to be taught a lesson and this is why God allowed their enemies
to overtake them. We too will see judgment come down to the church first and
then to the world. Judgments have already begun, and many do not see it. Every
time we see a pastor fall from grace, that is God allowing the church’s sin to
be exposed. Every time we see storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, and other
weather ailments take place, we are seeing God’s judgments. Yet, these
judgments are not coming because of God’s hatred for mankind. God disciplines
those He love, and He is trying to wake us up and give us time to repent and
turn back to Him. Unfortunately, time is running out and one day, the time of
grace will be over. Something to ponder…
