PSALMS MOMENT – (16JUN19) The psalmist wrote concerning the
perfection of the Law and how it was refreshing to the soul. He pointed out the
wisdom in God’s law and that it was trustworthy. To honor the Lord and His
ordinances is more precious than gold and sweeter than honey, according to the
psalmist, as he delighted in knowing what was righteous in the eyes of the
Lord. Unfortunately, many people do not want to delight themselves in the Lord
and they feel as if His laws are terms of imprisonment. They take on Satan’s
theme of “Do as thou wilt” and live according to the sinful nature. As we are
seeing the moral decay of society, we are seeing an ever-increasing hatred for
the things of God.
Man wants to be his own god. Therefore, we are seeing evils
such as prostitution being deemed as an honest profession in need of
decriminalization according to some law makers. We see that children are now
being celebrated for dancing in front of sexually perverted men. We are seeing
the violation of parents’ rights in being able to choose what vaccines if any
are right for their children. We are seeing the censorship of conservative
speech where right is being called wrong and wrong is being celebrated as the
new right. We are seeing pastors acting like playboys and Casanovas in their churches
as they prey on gullible women in their desire for sex and lust outside of
marriage. We see journalism turning into Marxism propaganda where people do not
have the choice of simple facts, but fabricated lies being passed off as news. We
see the lack of respect for authority and children as well as many young adults
have a sense of entitlement. We can go on and on, but the reason we are seeing
such things is that there is no fear of the Lord anymore, and the love for God’s
ordinances are barely existent. We are not under the 613 laws of Moses per se,
but God still has a righteous and holy standard by which we are all to live.
When we fail to do so, we will continue to see the breakdown of society until
it utterly destroys itself. Something to ponder….
QUESTION OF THE DAY – (16JUN19) Do you ever take time just
to say to the Lord, “I love you.” The psalmist took a moment to tell the Lord
that he loved him in Psalm 18, and then he went on to praise him for what He
had done for him. The psalmist was mindful that the Lord wants to know that we
love Him with everything in us. Although it was just one sentence, the three
words, “I love you,” are very powerful.
There is a song that expresses the love that we are to have
for the Lord and its lyrics say:
“I love you, Lord,
And I lift my voice,
To worship You.
Oh, my soul rejoice!
Take joy my King,
In what You hear
Let it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear.”
And I lift my voice,
To worship You.
Oh, my soul rejoice!
Take joy my King,
In what You hear
Let it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear.”
The Lord loves it when we profess our sincere
love to Him as we would to a spouse, child, family member or friend. Our love
for Him should surpass the love that we even have for those closest to us.
Oftentimes, we may pray and get caught up in the “asking” process for our needs
and much wanted desires, but the Lord would just love for us to sometimes come to
Him with nothing else on our mind other than to express our love for Him. We should
place ourselves in His shoes, sort of speaking, and think as to how we would
feel if someone only called on us when they wanted something. They never called
to just say hello, pay you a friendly visit, or send a card to say that they
were thinking of you, other than to immediately make a list of requests and/or
demands of your time. Well, we may fall into that trap blindly ourselves with all
the stress and pressures of life. Yet, God understands, but when we become
aware of our sometimes narcissistic ways with God, we can choose to do better and
just take the time to say, “I love you, Lord.” Something to ponder….
