PSALMS MOMENT – (19JUN19) The psalmist said, “Blessed is the
nation whose God is the Lord, the people He chose for His inheritance” (Psalm
33:12). Our nation loves to pride itself on its beginnings that were believed
to have been founded on the principles of liberty, life, and the pursuit of
happiness. Yet, what is freedom without the Lord? The Bible says, “Now the Lord is that Spirit:
and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (2
Corinthians 3:17).
Without the Spirit of the Lord resting upon a nation, there is no such thing as
true liberty. Why is it that we are losing the freedoms that we once had as a nation?
You may ask, “What freedoms?” I’m glad you asked.
We are losing the right to
assemble peaceably and protest against certain things without the opposition
feeling the need to attack peaceful protestors like what takes place at
pro-life rallies. We are losing our rights for freedom of speech because Christian
groups and conservatives are being banned off of various social media platforms.
We are losing our rights of common sense where the mere mention that there are
only two genders will get a student suspended from school. We are losing the
rights to protect children from sexual exploitation because the government (Departments
of Education) is forcing the LGBTQ agenda down children’s throats in educational
institutions. We are losing our rights for religious freedoms when courts are
trying to mandate that people go against their religious convictions and cater
to gays and transgenders. Yes, when the Spirit of the Lord leaves a nation,
there is no such thing as liberty, but it is replaced with Marxism, socialism,
and religious oppression.
We
claim that we are a nation for liberty, LIFE, and the pursuit of happiness, but
we have killed nearly 60 million babies through abortion, forced parents to
give babies harmful vaccines, and filled the shelves of stores with GMO foods. We
run underground child human traffic rings and call infanticide a “choice.” The
Bible says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came
that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). Jesus
came so that we may have life, not destroy it. We, in the United States, have
become a thieving nation. We take life, not give it. We do anything for money even
if that means harvesting baby organs from abortions and marketing them on the
market like parts at an Auto Zone store. Is this what the founding fathers
meant by having a nation for liberty, LIFE, and the pursuit of happiness? Isn’t
this opposite of what Christ gave His life for?
We
believe that we are a nation for liberty, life and the Pursuit of Happiness,
but what is happiness? Is it when children are on more psychotic medicine than
ever before? Is happiness when we have people celebrating gay pride month walking
around nude in front of innocent children? Is happiness when we have transgenders
who are convicted pedophiles reading story-time at libraries to children and twerking
on the floor? Is happiness when a woman cannot go to a public restroom without
the fear of a man being dressed as a woman in the next stall? Is happiness when
Christians go to church to get a few shouts and run down the aisle with no conviction
of sin in their hearts? What is happiness? The psalmist said, “Take
delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).
True happiness is found in the Lord, but temporary satisfaction is short-lived
for those who choose to follow Satan. Something to ponder….
QUESTION OF THE DAY – (19JUN19) “The angel of the Lord
encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them” (Psalm 34:12). The
psalmist wrote these words to let us know that there is never any need to live
in fear despite whatever uncertainties we face because the Lord has His
ministering angels surrounding us. Does this mean that we will never encounter
evil in the world? No! Yet, we know that whatever unfortunate situation we may
face, we never have to endure it alone. Satan is always on a leash with what he
is permitted to do to the children of God. He does not have free reign to do as
he pleases with those who honor the Lord unless God grants it to him. Because
we live in a fallen world, things may occur, but we have to trust and believe
that God has a plan for whatever situation we face. He never abandons us and is
a faithful Father who is loving and protective of us. Therefore, if we face
persecution, the Lord is there to shield us. If we encounter an attack in our
bodies, the Lord is there to heal us. If we experience an injustice of some
sort, the Lord is there to vindicate us. We never have to fear that the Lord is
absent in our lives as long as we remain faithful to Him. All we have to do is
cry out to Him and He will hear us. We may not always be taken out of the
valley of death, but the Lord will minister to us during our hour of need, and take
us by the hand to walk us through it. Something to ponder….
PSALMS MOMENT – (19JUN19) A king is not saved by the size of
his army and a warrior does not escape death by his own strength, nor is a
horse able to offer deliverance. These were the words that the psalmist wrote
to let the reader know that a nation cannot stand strong in its own strength.
Many of us in America have made the mistake of thinking that we are a powerful
nation within our own strength. We even have lawmakers that do not want to put their
hands on the Bible when taking office, but have replaced it with the Qur’an and
other books. God, however, is the One who made this nation great and He will be
the One to bring it down. It is amazing how we look at countries like Iran and
think that they can never overpower us in our arrogance. If we were to learn anything
from Israel’s history, we would know that God does not work in numbers, He
works in obedience.
The Lord gave Gideon victory of the Midianites with only a
mere three hundred men. God allowed Jael, a woman, to kill Sisera, the
commanding officer of the Canaanite army. There were other times that the Lord
gave Israel victories over armies that had more numbers and were more powerful
than they to show them that He was God. Yet, we as Americans have faith in our
military and not in the God who made us great. The fall of America will be a
great one because of our pride, debauchery, and rebellion against the Most
High. All great nations have fallen from Babylon to Rome. Everyone of them
thought that they would never be defeated, but God allowed for them to be
brought down to their knees. America is no different. She will fall as a
nation, for which, we are seeing the beginnings of it now. Our only salvation
is Jesus Christ. Our relationship with Israel, as many evangelicals believe, is
not going to save us as a nation because we are too wicked. God does not need
America to save Israel. He did it before America, and will do it after our
downfall. “He
changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives
wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning” (Daniel 2:21). Something to ponder….
