2 KINGS
MOMENT – (25APR19) King Joash had repairs done to the Lord’s temple. The
priests had been slow with the restoration process, so Joash had them to hire
outside contractors to get the work done for the Lord’s temple to be repaired.
Just as there had to be repairs done on the Lord’s temple, we must ensure that we
allow the Lord to do repairs on us as well. We are His temple and our lives are
to be a daily living sacrifice unto Him. No building can go years without there
being some type of maintenance done to it to keep it structurally sound and it
is the same way with our spiritual life. In order to do maintenance on our
spiritual temples, we must pray, read the Word, and fast, so that we can hear
the Lord clearly as to what He wants for our lives. Just as Joash had the
priest to hire outside contractors because the priests had not been on the job
with doing the repairs themselves, sometimes, we too must have others to help
us along the way in our spiritual walk to give us encouragement, strength and
support. Our main Repairer, however, is Jesus and He is the One who fixes all
wounds, pain, disappointment, and replenishes us when we are weak. Jesus is the
Restorer of our souls, and it is in Him that we find all that we need for our
temples to be sustained. Something to ponder…
QUESTION OF
THE DAY – (25APR19) The Prophet Elisha died after being ill for a while. Later,
the Moabites came to raid the Israelites as a funeral was taking place, so the
deceased’s mourners threw the man’s body into Elisha’s tomb. When the corpse touched
Elisha’s bones, the man became alive again. Many people are living spiritually
dead lives. They no longer feel as if they have the strength to continue the
Christian journey and have spiritually flatlined. The spiritually compromised are
not able to offer any hope and all other attempts to defibrillate themselves
have failed. Yet, there is hope. Just as the dead man came alive again after
touching Elisha’s bones, sometimes being connected to the right man and/or
woman of God can help bring life back into one’s soul. The Bible poses the
question of how can two walk together unless they agree. This is why it is so
important to be connected to a body of Christ rather in a church, Bible study
group, or in some other manner because iron sharpens iron and we all may have
times that we feel spiritually dead, but just a connection with the right
person can make all the difference in the world. Most important, being
connected to Christ is what sustains us because He is the Resurrection and the
Life for both the physical and spiritual body. Something to ponder…
2 KINGS
MOMENT – (25APR19) Amaziah became prideful after he successfully defeated the Edomites.
He arrogantly picked a fight with Jehoash king of Israel although he had been
warned by Jehoash that this was not a fight that he wanted to start. Unfortunately,
Amaziah was over confident and the two kings went to battle. He lost the battle
to Jehoash and later, he lost his life through an assassination plot. One thing that God hates is Pride. When the
Lord blesses us to come out of a situation and/or deliver a victory into our
hands, we are to never operate in pride. We know that pride comes before the
fall and what goes up, can come back down. Therefore, when God blesses us, let’s
remember to stay humble at His feet. There is nothing wrong with taking joy in
the things that the Lord does for us, but let us remember that without HIM, we
would not be able to accomplish anything. Something to ponder…
