Matthew 6:25-26 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them." Are you not much more valuable than they?" (NIV)
Worry! Many of us have done it at some point in our lives. Rather it was about a school exam, the results from a doctor, an interview for a job, or maybe a pubic speaking engagement, worry has entered into our thoughts and minds. But how does one keep from allowing worry to be a controlling agent? The only way is through prayer and reading the Word of God.
Jesus told us not to worry, because the things that we often worry about are very trivial to life itself. Well, some may say, "I don't have a life unless I am able to have this or that?" Is that actually true? If you are one to worry about money, how does it compare to someone who has money, but is stricken with cancer? Steve Jobs, for example, was the CEO of Apple. He was the embodiment of what many would consider as successful and living the American dream. However, at the age of 48, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. You can be sure that he had the best doctors and specialists to help cure this disease. Unfortunately, he lost the battle at the age of 56. Steve Job's money could not save his life.
This is why Jesus tells us not to worry about tomorrow. We have no control over the future. We can make all the plans we want, for which, there is nothing wrong. However, God is ultimately in control of every aspect of our lives. All we have to do is turn our worries into prayer requests and leave them at the altar. God is our Provider and all we have to do is ask and allow Him to do the rest. Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble I heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (NIV)
