To the ABORTIONIST, the Potter Loves You

Ezekiel 16:20-21 “And you took your sons and daughters whom you bore to me to me and sacrificed them as food to the idols. Was your prostitution not enough? You slaughtered my children and sacrificed them to the idols.” (NIV)

In 1973, the United States Supreme Court passed the landmark decision in the case of Roe vs. Wade to legalize the killing of innocent children by way of abortion (Wikipedia, 2017). Since the time of this decision, nearly 60 million children have been murdered. Many feminists organizations claim that it should be up to the female alone to determine what she wants to do with her body. However, it is not her body that is being butchered, but the body of an innocent child – a child that never asked to come into existence. Nevertheless, many people make all kinds of excuses to commit this horrible act and sad to say, even in the Body of Christ, there are those who condone this type of murder as being agreeable to God. Well, this is contrary to scripture and so let’s search to see the Potter’s thoughts in regards to this matter.

In six days, God created the entire world, which included mankind. He was very pleased with the work that He had done. Genesis 1:31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning – the sixth day. (NIV) Nothing malfunctioned or was out of order. All that God had made worked as He created it to do. Man was perfect in every way until he decided to rebel against God. It wasn’t that God had made an imperfect vessel, on the contrary. It was that He had given man the ability to have free will and with that, man was able to choose rather He wanted to be obedient to God or not. Unfortunately, man made the wrong choice and therefore, had to suffer the consequences of his sinful actions. Nevertheless, all was not lost. God promised to send a Savior to save man from his sins, but the wickedness of man continued and murder became a huge part of man’s rebellion against God.

The act of abortion is nothing more than child sacrifice and murder. Many make the argument that if you have an abortion within the first trimester, prior to the baby’s limbs forming, then it is not taking a life because it is only a blob. Well, God never describes His creation as such. Just as He did in the beginning, God considers all of His creation as absolutely wonderful from beginning to end. The Psalmist gives a great depiction of what God thinks of us prior to our formation. Psalm 139:13-16 (13)For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.(14)I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (15)My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. (16)Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. (NIV) Let’s break this text down further so that we can have a clear understanding concerning God’s thoughts of us from the very beginning.

a.)    You created my inmost being. God knew how you were going to come into existence prior to you ever being a thought. God was not surprised on the day that your mother received the news that she was expecting a child. Your conception date was new to your parents and the doctor, but that date had already been identified from the beginning of time. Therefore, regardless of how you came about, God knew you personally and had a relationship with you from the moment of your conception. To go even further, He knew which female egg and male sperm would attach to one another to create YOU.

b.)    You knit me together in my mother’s womb. Many older women love to knit. They gather the supplies they need and then go into action. To begin, it takes some yarn, an appropriate needle, and a dose of patience to knit their design together. Once the yarn and the needle meets, it is only a matter of time before the project is complete. It was the same way when you were created. The female egg and male sperm met to create you and God was the one doing the knitting.
c.)    My frame was not hidden from you. God was able to see you as you were being formed inside your mother’s womb. Whereas man has to use ultrasound machines, gel and stethoscopes in order to view and hear the baby, God did not need such things in order to see you. He is the creator of all things and therefore, nothing is hidden from His sight.

d.)    I was woven together in the depths of the earth. We all come from the dust of the ground because that is where Adam and Eve were first formed. They, being the first people that God created, continued the procreation process that originated in the Garden of Eden. Therefore, God took the time to make you with all the internal and external organs as He did with Adam and Eve in the garden. It was the same process, but a different location.
e.)    Your eyes saw my unformed body. Once again, God saw you before you had taken any type of shape. You were a person at the moment of conception. You were a person before you had any distinguishable features. God did not declare you a person once you had an eye, arm or torso. You were His creation from the very beginning.
f.)     All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. God had a plan for you before you ever came to be. Your existence did not sneak up on God because He had his hand in it from the very beginning of time.

Therefore, the Psalmist lets us know that it is incorrect to think that a baby is not a human being at the moment of conception. Unfortunately, the devil has deceived many into believing that life only begins at the will of the mother and that her rights outweighs that of her innocent child. To go a little further, the great deception is that the child that the mother is carrying is not actually a human being at all in order to have a detachment from the wickedness that takes place when a woman decides to kill her unborn child. Deniability is the justification to do wrong. God, however, sees it differently. Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? (NIV)

Most abortions that are performed are done so out of mere selfishness. The parent(s) feel that a child would inconvenience their lifestyles and therefore, decide to end the life that they created when there should have been preventive measure taken instead of this being an after thought. Numerous abortions are also performed due to the advise of the doctor telling the couple that their child will have a disability and others have been performed due to the stigma following rape and/or incest. Many people can in all sincerity empathize with the above situations, but even in these extreme and difficult circumstances, life still belongs to God and we as individuals have no right to end it. Let’s address the first scenario of inconvenience. Revelation 3:17 You say, “I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.” But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. (NIV)

Inconvenience

Many people are delaying getting married and having children until they are settled into their careers. They decide that they would prefer to move up the corporate ladder and therefore, put off having children until they have reached their ultimate goals. While this is a choice that can be appreciated, those who decide to do such things should not place themselves in situations that would cause them to kill an unwanted child and/or use preventive measure to keep one from coming. For example, if you are unmarried, then sex should not be part of your lifestyle. 1 Corinthians 7:2 But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband. (NIV)
The Word of God lets us know that fornication and adultery is a sin. Therefore, if you are practicing this type of behavior, you are indeed sinning and your being willing to kill an innocent child, as a result of your sin, makes it worse. As for the married couple who finds themselves in a situation of not wanting to have a first or additional child, the same applies. Let’s be adults here. We all know how babies are created. So, if you are getting your groove on as a married couple and not using preventive methods to prevent a child from coming, abortion is not to be used as birth control. Think before you groove! Children, however, are a blessing given from God. Psalm 127:3-5 (3)Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. (4)Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. (5)Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court. (NIV) Consider yourself blessed when you have children in the confines of marriage and God will help you to take care of them.

Diagnosis of Disability

Many couples have listened to the advise of their physicians in that the child, if brought to full-term, would have a disability. Although leaving the choice up to the couple, the diagnosis and advice of the doctor has caused many to listen to man instead of listening to God. John 8:47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” (NIV)  Physicians have all types of opinions when it comes to science such as women over 40 should not try to have children due to the probability of the child being disabled. Nevertheless, what if Sarah and Elizabeth had been living in today’s times? Wouldn’t the doctors had told them that they were too old to conceive and that their children would possibly be nothing more than vegetables? Probably so, but they would have been WRONG.
Sarah, Abraham’s wife, was around 90 when she had Isaac. This is why she and Abraham laughed when told by the Lord that they would have a son. Sarah thought that it was impossible for her to conceive at such an age. Nevertheless, God did the impossible. Genesis 17:17 Abraham fell facedown, he laughed and said to himself, “Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?” (NIV) What about Elizabeth? She and her husband had given up on the idea of ever having a child because they were advanced in years as well. Despite their old age, God blessed them with a son who they named John, for he was going to be a mighty prophet to prepare the way for Jesus’ arrival. Luke 1:36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. (NIV) Even while in the womb, John was filled with the Holy Spirit. God didn’t wait till John was born, but the Holy Spirit was inside him as he was still developing.

These two stories lets us know that God is the one who has control over our lives from the very beginning. It does not matter what the diagnosis is that is given from the physician. Man is not God! He alone decides our destiny and we are to rely totally on Him. Whereas a doctor may say that there is no chance of a child being born normal, God is the master physician who can declare otherwise. Even if God decides to not step in by allowing a child to be born with a birth defect, He has his reasons and all glory belongs to Him. Many people were born with birth defects in the Bible, but Jesus healed them. Their birth defects were allowed so that God could gain the glory and show us that nothing is impossible with Him. John 9:2-3 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.” (NIV)

Rape and Incest

Rape and incest are two of the most vile things that can happen to a person. Those who have been involved in incest were oftentimes raped. God never intended for close relatives to have an intimate relationship and therefore, we find that in the Old Testament, God established laws against such things. Those who willingly indulge in incestuous relationships will find that this type of behavior is not of God. 1 Corinthians 5:1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. (NIV) As for rape, God has never condoned such violent acts and He is displeased with anyone who would force a person into an act that was only for a husband and wife to enjoy. Unfortunately, we live in a sinful world and there are wicked people who enjoy inflicting pain and abuse upon others. In some cases of rape, a child had been conceived and the mother has opted for an abortion to erase the pain of it all. At least, that was the intent, which may have proven to be unsuccessful.
King David experienced turmoil in his household when one of his sons, Ammon, raped his own sister, Tamar. 2 Samuel 13:12-14 (12) “No, my brother!” she said to him. “Don’t force me! Such a thing should not be done in Israel! Don’t do this wicked thing. (13)What about me? Where could I get rid of my disgrace? And what about you? You would be like one of the wicked fools in Israel. Please speak to the king; he will not keep me from being married to you.” (14)But he refused to listen to her, and since he was stronger than she, he raped her. (NIV)  The act brought shame upon the whole family and caused another brother, Absalom, to plot his revenge by killing his brother, Ammon. Although the Bible doesn’t mention that a pregnancy was the result of this abominable act, the young woman was understandably ashamed due to the actions of her brother.

Mary, who was engaged to Joseph, received word from the Angel Gabriel that she would conceive a son through the Holy Spirit and His name was to be called Jesus. Mary had never been with a man intimately and therefore, could have had the attitude that this was a child that she did not ask to have. She could have had the attitude that the baby had been forced upon her and consequently, did not want Him. Nevertheless, even though Mary had not given prior consent to be the mother of anyone, she humbly accepted what God had given her. Luke 1:38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. (NIV) Jesus was the greatest Gift that anyone could have ever received. Although this is unlike the act of rape, the same concept applies. Sometimes the greatest gifts are given through the most unconventional ways. Rape is a horrible crime, but if God sees fit to allow a life to come from the act, only He can answer the question of why. However, it is not a woman’s right to end the life even in these type of challenging circumstances. Proverbs 14:27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death. (NIV)

The important thing to understand is that all life is special to the Potter. It doesn’t matter how, when, and why the life was created. From the moment of conception to the day a person dies, that life has a purpose, which has been pre-determined by the Potter. No one has the right to terminate that life and to set the record straight, an unborn baby regardless of what stage of development is a human being with the right to live in the Potter’s eyes. Satan is the one who is glorified every time a life is terminated. He loves sacrifices because he has always tried to imitate the Potter because he is the creator of nothing other than chaos, death, confusion and all that is wicked. Ezekiel 16:20-21 “And you took your sons and daughters whom you bore to me and sacrificed them as food to the idols. Was your prostitution not enough? You slaughtered my children and sacrificed them to the idols. (NIV) Those who perform abortions and those who have them are giving him exactly what he wants. The doctors and nurses who perform these procedures are demonic priests and priestesses who have the woman to lay upon the altar in stirrups to sacrifice her unborn child to Satan. Psalm 106:37-39 (37)They sacrifice their sons and their daughters to false gods. (38)They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood. (39)The defiled themselves by what they did, by their deeds they prostituted themselves. (NIV) The Potter, nonetheless, with tears in His eyes receives everyone of these children unto Himself, for He is their parent because He created them.

Let’s put an end to abortion. Let’s stop destroying life. If you are the one performing and/or aiding in these procedures, the Potter loves you and wishes for you to stop because all lives matter to Him even in the womb.  If you are the one who maybe thinking about an abortion, please do not do it. The Potter loves both you and your child. Matthew 19:14-15 Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there. (NIV) He has a special planned mapped out for the both of you and desires for you to make the decision for life. Should you, however, have already fallen prey to committing this act, there is forgiveness at the cross. The Potter loves you and desires to fully restore you minus any guilt, shame and heartache that you may have experienced. He is there to lift you up out of the pits of depression and let you know that all is forgiven. Forgiveness available to anyone who confesses Jesus as their Lord and Savior and repent of their sins. Redemption is offered at the Potter’s House. Matthew 11:28-30 (28)”Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (29)Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (30)For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (NIV)
