Read the Bible in a Year (05DEC19)

DAILY REMINDER – Today, December 5’s Bible reading is 2 Corinthians 5-9.

NEXT DAY REMINDER – Tomorrow, December 6’s Bible reading is 2 Corinthians 10-13. May God bless you with the reading of His WORD.

2 CORINTHIANS MOMENT – (05DEC19)  For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life” (2 Corinthians 5:4). In the beginning, when Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden, they did not know what nakedness was. They had no idea of shame, embarrassment, shyness, nor humiliation – all the things most modest people would normally experience on being unclothe in front of a group of people. That freedom, nonetheless, ended when they ate from the forbidden tree in defiance to God’s command. As a result, sin caused them to no longer be free from shame, but an animal had to die to cover the nakedness of their new mortal and destructible bodies.

Paul longed to be finally done with his earthly body so that he could put on his heavenly one. He had been well acquainted with suffering, persecution, beatings, imprisonment, hunger and insomnia. He dared not complain, but he longed to be with the Lord and yet, he knew that he had a work to do until his time was finally done. Paul wrote that the earthly body could easily be destroyed, but for those who endured to the end would be clothed in the righteousness of Christ. Until such time, the apostle wrote that we are to live by faith and not by sight, so rather we are in our mortal bodies, or our heavenly ones, we are to always make it our mission to please the Lord.

So many people have grown weary with life’s challenges. The devil has not made this life an easy one and for those who have been dedicated to doing the Lord’s work, he has worked on us triple time. Nevertheless, we must remain faithful to the end because we will give an account to God for what we did with the time He gave us. The Bible says: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10). Will Jesus be pleased with you, or will He shake His head in disappointment? There are many ways to do the Lord’s work rather it is in the four walls or outside of them. Whatever you do, ensure that it is done to the glory of God because He will reward accordingly for the things we have done in this temporal body, so it really does matter. Something to ponder….
