Mathew
28:19 Go ye therefore and teach all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and Holy Ghost. (KJV)
We
are called to teach the world about the gospel of Christ. Sometimes, that will
involve stepping on a few toes in the process. You may ask, what gives anyone
the right to call out things that are wrong in our nation? You know what gives
us the right? The word of God has commanded that we do so.
Ezekiel 33:11 says, “Say unto them, As I live,
saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the
wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for
why will ye die, O house of Israel?” (KJV)
If you notice in the scripture above, God did not
say just ignore the wrong that was being done; He said to “Say unto them” which means to tell
them.
Luke
5:32 Jesus says, “I came not to call the righteous, but
sinners to repentance.” Jesus came to save a world full of
sin so that we may have eternal life. It is our responsibility to call the
world to repentance just as Jesus did. This does not mean that we hammer people
down with the Bible, but we must sound the alarm and warn them that His coming
is soon.
Well,
what about the scripture “Judge not that ye be not judged?”
Yes, in Matthew 7:1-5,
it talks about judging others when you have a beam in your own eye. This is
absolutely correct! How can I tell someone that they are sinning when I am
sinning myself? I would be a hypocrite of course. However, if this scripture
was to be taking at face value, there would be no need for preachers, leaders,
or teachers of the gospel because we are ALL guilty of sin. However, Jesus is
not saying that we are not to tell the truth about matters of Salvation. We are
saved because we have accepted the “FREE” gift of Salvation which was given at
the cross.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that
not of yourselves: it is the give of God: 9 Not by works, lest any man
should boast.
When
we tell others about sin, we are not to make it as if we have accomplished Salvation
by our own accord. We are to tell them that it is ONLY through the grace and
faith of Jesus Christ that we can stand boldly and denounce sin. We are able to
do so because He gave us authority. See, there are some who get offended
because of TRUTH. People (including some leaders) don’t like when you give a “Thus
said the Lord.” However, the Bible speaks out against you who don’t tell the
world and His flock the things of God.
2 Timothy 4: 3 For the time will come when they will not endure
sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves
teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears
from the truth, and shall be turned into fables. 5 But watch thou in all
things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy
ministry.
Timothy
is saying that there will be a time when people will flock to pastors who only
preach what they want to hear. They want to “feel” good and never have
correction. They will turn away from the true word of God if it doesn’t line up
with what they want to hear. We must be careful not to become the “tickling”
ear for the world. Yes, God wants us to be happy, but Salvation is not always a
happy trip when you are outside of God’s will.
Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and
scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God
dealeth with you as with sons; for the son is he whom the father chasteneth
not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers,
then are ye bastards, and not sons. 9 Furthermore we have had fathers of
our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather
be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? 10 For they
verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our
profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. 11 Now no chastening
for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it
yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. (KJV)
What
this scripture is saying is that God rebukes all of His children when they are
wrong because He loves us. If we are not wanting to be rebuked by Him, then we
cannot call ourselves sons and daughters of His. Our earthly parents rebuked us
when we were children and had done wrong, but we knew it was for our good.
Therefore, because we have an inheritance with Christ, He has the right to tell
us when we’re wrong. This is the same way it is with those who profess Christ
and those who don’t know Him. We must tell our brother or sister when they have
erred in their ways and we must warn those whom haven’t accepted Jesus in their
hearts that they must do so before their time is up.
Are
we judging just because we tell someone of a wrong? No! This society would have
you thinking that just because you say what’s wrong, you are judging. That’s
not correct! We are the representatives of Christ and we must open our mouths
when we see the world going wrong. It’s not called meddling, it’s called SAVING.
It is my prayer that we are not ashamed to stand up for right regardless of who
it may offend. The apostles “DIED” for their faith and we’re acting as if we
are going to be beheaded when we say what’s in the word of God. If we can’t do
it now, how will we be able to do it should or when the time comes where we
will be persecuted for our beliefs? We won’t be able to stand…we will buckle
under the pressure as many do now.
