DAILY REMINDER – Today, July 6’s Bible reading is Psalms 115-118.
NEXT DAY REMINDER – Tomorrow, July 7’s Bible reading is
Psalms 119:1-88. May God bless you with the reading of His WORD.
PSALMS MOMENT – (06JUL19) “But their idols are silver
and gold, made by human hands” (Psalm 115:4). The psalmist wrote that
the nations worshiped useless idols that could not see, hear, touch, nor speak.
The ones who worshiped them were just like their idols because they were
useless to God. Although many Christians may not worship idols, with the
exception of the Catholics, in the traditional sense of how the heathen nations
did, they are no less worshiping many foreign gods. Their gods include things
such as: money, sex, music, sports, entertainment, leaders in both the
political and religious sector, fashion, cars, houses, television, jobs, and so
much more. Anything that we place before God becomes an idol. These things
cannot save anyone. Only the Lord can save us.
There are things that will soon come to the earth that will
test where our loyalties lie. Do we believe that God is the One who provides
all of our needs, or will we show Him that we have trusted in a foreign god? If
we are to learn anything from Israel’s history, it should be that God will
never share Himself with a foreign god. We are to either choose Him, or follow
the enemy. No one can serve two masters. “But if serving the LORD seems
undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve,
whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the
Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will
serve the LORD" (Joshua 24:15). Something to ponder….
QUESTION OF THE DAY - (06JUL19) Have you ever felt that you
would not make it through a troublesome situation? Were you at your wits’ end?
The psalmist had gone through many hardships, but the Lord always carried him
through. The psalmist wrote, “I will not die but live, and will proclaim
what the Lord has done” (Psalm 118:17). Sometimes, we have to speak
LIFE into our own situation. We have to encourage ourselves when there is no
encouragement to be found. This is not a name it, claim it ideology, but this
is having faith that the Lord will not leave us to falter at the hands of the
enemy. It is not always easy to speak life into what seems like a dead
situation. But we must believe that what may seem impossible for us, is not
impossible for the Lord. The Bible says, “Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With
man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible’ " (Matthew 19:26). Something to ponder….
