DAILY REMINDER – Today, July 26’s Bible reading is Ecclesiastes 9-12.
NEXT DAY REMINDER – Tomorrow, July 27’s Bible reading is Solomon 1-8.
May God bless you with the reading of His WORD.
ECCLESIASTES MOMENT – (26JUL19) “For the living know that
they will die, but the dead know nothing… never again will they have a part in
anything that happens under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 9:5a, 6b). There are
various mid-eastern religions that believe in the reincarnation of human beings
as well as a few self -professed Christians. Yet, this belief is erroneous and
unbiblical . The Teacher in Ecclesiastes let the reader know that we all have a
date with death. That is if Jesus doesn’t come for us first. But should we die
prior to His return, we will not be coming back this way. Once we are gone , the
books will be closed on our lives and then there’s the judgment. The Bible
says, “For we must all appear before the
judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he
has done in the body, whether good or evil” (2 Corinthians 5:10). So, Aunt Mary isn’t
coming back as a cat. Grandpa George isn’t coming back as your little cousin.
And the family dog, Rufus, isn’t coming back as the governor. While we are alive,
we should make sure that we live the life that God has called for us to live in
service to Him. Anything in opposition to that will not matter once we are done
on this side of the sun. Something to ponder….
QUESTION OF THE DAY - (26JUL19)
Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster
may come upon the land” (Ecclesiastes 11:2). Have you ever invested in
the stock market? Have you ever done day trading? Many investors have huge portfolios
where they have several investment vehicles. Most economists would advise people
to never put all of their eggs in one basket, and that was exactly what the
Teacher in Ecclesiastes was telling his readers. Rather you have more than one
stream of income, several investment opportunities, a double-major, or some
other type of venture in which you need a backup plan, it is always good to
weigh out your options and have several goals in motion in case one doesn’t
work out, then the other will. However, this concept is not to be used for
married people having backups in case their marriage is in trouble. A little
humor there, but one thing that we know is an absolute certainty is our ability
to rely on God. Whereas people, places, things, and investments may fail, God
never fails, and that’s because He loves us with an everlasting love. He is one
investment that we can count on and His blessings are ten, twenty, and a hundred-fold.
Something to ponder….
ECCLESIASTES MOMENT – (26JUL19) The Teacher of Ecclesiastes
wrote, “Remember your Creator in the days of your youth….” (Ecclesiastes
12:1a). The Teacher gave this advice because when a person is young,
they are able to do more for the Lord than they can when they are old. In old
age, vision starts to fail , health begins declining , mobility becomes limited,
and memory may not be the same, but when a person is young, most do not have
such limitations. The young can serve God with zeal and they are not tired out
by the things of life and the race with time. God will use us all at whatever
level we’re at in life, but He desires that we start out young serving Him just
as the Prophet Samuel did when his mother, Hannah, dedicated him to the Lord.
In doing so, we will not only age gracefully, but we will mature spiritually in
Him. Age, however, does not limit God, but sometimes, our bodies are limited
because of it. Therefore, if you are a young person, serve the Lord well, but
if you are older, allow the remainder of your life to still be in service to Him.
Either way, your reward will be great and given to you in the end . Something to
ponder….
