PSALMS MOMENT – (04JUL19) “He brought me out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains” (Psalm 107:14). Today, we in America, celebrate the Fourth of July in honor of our nation’s independence. God blessed this nation to have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The Bible says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…” (Psalm 33:12a). God has truly blessed this nation and even though its beginnings were not perfect, and many were enslaved against their will, He allowed for there to eventually be FREEDOM for ALL, and broke the chains of those who were bound. The psalmist reminisced on the goodness of the Lord and all that He had done for the Children of Israel in Psalms 106 and 107. He recounted the blessings and miracles that the Lord did for them when they came out of Egypt, in the wilderness, and after they entered the Promised Land. But Israel repeatedly turned their hearts away from God. Despite all the many blessings that He had given to them, they refused to be loyal to Him, and turned to other gods and practices as their heathen neighbors. Therefore, God withheld many of the blessing that He had for them, and allowed for them to be overtaken by their enemies until they cried out for Him.

Although, we celebrate today in honor of our nation’s freedom, we as a nation have enslaved ourselves to sin. Many people would say, “Where is the uplifting message for today?” Yet, our question should be, “Where is our allegiance to God who gave us our independence?” The prophets of old cried out and gave warning after warning after warning for Israel to turn from her wicked ways, but they were labeled gloom and doomers as many of the Lord’s watchmen are today. America’s days are numbered. America’s freedoms are being stripped. America’s respect around the world is nearly non-existent. America’s independence is coming to an end. Take heed that you be ready and witness to all you can about the Independence that can only be found in the LORD. Babylon is falling, and she will one day, never shine her light again. 

REVELATION 18:2-3

“With a mighty voice he shouted:

“‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’^]
    She has become a dwelling for demons
and a haunt for every impure spirit,
    a haunt for every unclean bird,
    a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal.
 For all the nations have drunk
    the maddening wine of her adulteries.
The kings of the earth committed adultery with her,
    and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.”
