Read the Bible in a Year (21JLU19)

DAILY REMINDER – Today, July 21’s Bible reading is Proverbs 24-26.

NEXT DAY REMINDER – Tomorrow, July 22’s Bible reading is Proverbs 27-29. May God bless you with the reading of His WORD.

PROVERBS MOMENT – (21JUL19) “Rescue those being led away to deathIf you say, ‘But we knew nothing about this,’ does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done?” (Proverbs 24:11-12). Many people are being led to the slaughter by wolves in sheep’s clothing. They are following false teachers, preachers, prophets, and others down the road to destruction. The ones who are awake, however, have a job to do and that is to help open the eyes of the blind so that they can see. It is not an easy job, but for those who are awake, it is a job that we are ALL called to do.

If you saw a child about to get hit by a car, would you stand to the side and say nothing? If you saw a person was about to put their hand into a barrel where a snake laid dormant, would you turn and look the other way? Yet, so many awake believers are doing just that when we see our sisters and brothers going down the wrong road. We know that time is running out and many leaders are not doing their job in sounding the alarm due to money, fame, status, and cowardice. Yet, so many believers stand to the side and look the other way. There is, however, a payday that is coming for all who do this detestable act before the Lord. There will not be any excuses that He will accept should we fail to help rescue those who are lost in sin.

The writer of Proverbs was warned that for those who fail to do what they can to rescue someone from death, when they are quite capable of doing so, will be judged by God. With the Lord, there will be no excuses because the Lord judges the heart and our motives are not hidden from Him. The Lord gave the following warning to the Prophet Ezekiel when he was called to be a watchman unto Israel, “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way, he shall die for his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul” (Ezekiel 3:17-19). Ezekiel was given a mission, and that was to warn the Children of Israel concerning their wickedness, and what was coming to them if they did not change their ways. Ezekiel could not hide and disobey what God had called for him to do or he would have been judged as well. Ezekiel humbly did as the Lord commanded and warned even when they did not listen.

We too have been called to sound the alarm and be watchmen for the Kingdom of God. It does not require a degree, title, or financial status. God’s call is for everyone who has a heart to obey. Will you answer the call? Will you obey the Lord by speaking up to those who are lost and sounding the alarm for those who are going astray? You may be the very vessel that God uses to pull one of His sheep back towards Him. Will you listen to His voice? Something to ponder….

QUESTION OF THE DAY - (21JUL19) Did you know that honey is believed to have many health and nutritional benefits for the human body? Many scientists and nutritionists have written on the subject of honey and its benefits for the human body. From helping cancer patients, regulating blood sugar, improving skin, healing wounds and burns, as well as acting as a probiotic, honey has been used over the centuries as a natural medicine and source of food. In addition to its healing properties, honey is sweet to the tongue and people often use it as a substitute for sugar. The writer of Proverbs wrote, “Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste” (Proverbs 24:13). He went on to compare wisdom to honey and how those who find wisdom will be greatly rewarded. Many people lack wisdom and they have become wise in their own eyes, but the Bible warns against this. The Bible says, “Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them” (Proverbs 26:12). The righteous seek wisdom from the Lord, and He gives it generously to those who ask. The world has its own ideology concerning the way that people should live their lives, but the righteous will eat the honey of wisdom because it is sweet to those who can appreciate its benefits. Something to ponder….
