Read the Bible in a Year (25AUG19)

DAILY REMINDER – Today, August 25’s Bible reading is Jeremiah 46-48.

NEXT DAY REMINDER – Tomorrow, August 26’s Bible reading is Jeremiah 49-50. May God bless you with the reading of His WORD.

JEREMIAH MOMENT – (25AUG19) The Lord had given Jeremiah a message concerning the surrounding nations of Moab, Egypt, and the Philistines. He was tired of their arrogance, pride, and being in defiance of the Lord. Therefore, they were going to be defeated by King Nebuchadnezzar. These nations had previously come against Israel, but their day was coming when the Lord would be against them. The Bible says, “Was not Israel the object of your ridicule? Was she caught among thieves, that you shake your head in scorn whenever you speak of her?” (Jeremiah 48:27). The nations who once looked down on Israel were going to be viewed in a similar fashion by other nations. The Lord had come with vengeance against those who were against Him.

The Lord is once again bringing judgment on the nations not because He wants to, but so they will recognize Him as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The Bible says, “Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11). Every nation, leader, people and tongue will one day acknowledge that Jesus is Lord above all other gods. There will be no way that they will be able to get around it. God judges the nations who fail to acknowledge Him, and one day, even in our United States of America, we too will acknowledge Him as a whole once major judgments begin. It grieves the Lord when the nation He has blessed turns from Him. We were once a Christian nation, but we are so only in name, with the exception of a remnant within the nation, because we allowed greed, politics, and grievous sins to turn us against God. May God help us to turn our hearts back to Him before it’s too late, for just as Israel and their surrounding nations were judged, so will we. Something to ponder….

QUESTION OF THE DAY - (25AUG19) “A curse on anyone who is lax in doing the Lord’s work.! A curse on anyone who keeps their sword from bloodshed!” (Jeremiah 48:10). God was determined that Moab was going to suffer destruction because of their pride, insolence, arrogance, and boastful ways. They were the descendants of Lot and had dealt harshly with the Children of Israel since the time of Moses. Therefore, God placed a curse on anyone who was supposed to render judgment on them should they had failed to be just as harsh with them as they were with others. The nation who rendered judgment on them was doing the work of the Lord in carrying out His punishment. God’s purpose was to be carried out completely, and the Lord had chosen Babylon to be His instrument to ensure His will was done.

The Lord has called us all to do a mighty work for His kingdom and glory. He has given to us many spiritual gifts to help usher souls to His kingdom. There is never a need to compete for a position because Heaven is always hiring. Our spiritual gifts make room for us to help those who are lost, distressed, grieved, and uncertain about their future. God blesses those who dedicate their hearts and lives to helping the needs of others. Do you have a heart for the lost? If so, ask God for what you can do to build up His kingdom if you are not doing so already? Do you like bringing a smile to people’s faces? Ask God to open up opportunities where you can show people the joy of the Lord. Do you like giving to those in need? Ask the Lord to give you discernment where you can seek out those who need help. Do you want to see children know about the Lord? Pray and ask God to help you to become a spiritual mentor for a child. There are so many things that we can do for the kingdom, but all we have to do is ask the Lord for guidance and allow Him to lead the way. Something to ponder….
