Read the Bible in a Year (04AUG19)

DAILY REMINDER – Today, August 4’s Bible reading is Isaiah 31-35.

NEXT DAY REMINDER – Tomorrow, August 5’s Bible reading is Isaiah 36-41. May God bless you with the reading of His WORD.

ISAIAH MOMENT – (04AUG19) Listen, you women who lie around in ease. Listen to me, you who are so smug. In a short time—just a little more than a year—you careless ones will suddenly begin to care. For your fruit crops will fail, and the harvest will never take place.  Tremble, you women of ease; throw off your complacency” (Isaiah 32:9-11a). God was sending the women of Israel a warning of what was to come. They thought that they were living the life of luxury and that nothing would come their way to harm them. They were complacent and never imagined that their lives were about to change forever, but they were foolish in their thinking and were not prepared for what would take place. The women, keepers of the home, were the ones who normally ensured that the home was cared for and properly provided for with what their husbands brought in, but they did not do as the ants did and prepare for the winter. They saw no need of urgency, nor the need to cry out on behalf of their families to the Lord. Similarly, many within the church are acting just as foolish today.

There are alarms going off everywhere, and yet, many choose to go on with life as usual. Jesus is soon to return, but before He does, we have been warned that there are judgments that will befall the nations who turn their backs to God, but the church, overall, is in a coma. If the church lived as if things were about to change, the preachers would preach repentance instead of prosperity. The choirs would sing songs of lament instead of happy days. The church would be on bended knees instead of running around in vain glory. We would be living like this is our last days on earth instead of every day being a Friday.

Many watchmen have warned for people to repent, but how many have listened? Many prophets and prophetess have foretold of food shortages that would come to America, but how may have bought extra food and water to prepare? How many of God’s economists have warned the people to not keep a lot of money in their banks, but people believe that the ATM’s will always be working? How many prophetic voices have warned for people to have both their spiritual and physical houses in order, but people have turned a deaf ear and mocked by calling them conspiracy theorists such as the FBI just labeled them? One day, God’s word will be fulfilled and just as those who were left outside the ark could not get in, it will be too late for those who failed to heed God’s warnings that He sent His messengers. Something to ponder….

QUESTION OF THE DAY - (04AUG19) A common theme throughout the book of Isaiah is God’s desire for His people to place their trust in Him and not in man. The Bible says, What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help, trusting their horses, chariots…and depending on the strength of human armies instead of looking to the Lord, the Holy One of Israel. In his wisdom, the Lord will send great disaster; he will not change his mind. He will rise against the wicked and against their helpers. For these Egyptians are mere humans, not God! Their horses are puny flesh, not mighty spirits…those who help will stumble, and those being helped will fall…and die together (Isaiah 31:1-3). Just as Israel asked the Prophet Samuel for a king instead of relying on God’s leadership, they were still wanting to reject God and rely on man who could not save them. The very people who had once enslaved them were the ones with whom they were placing their trust in. God was not about to have any of it, and Israel found out that Egypt could not help them because they were under judgment as well. The same thing is happening today.

In 2016, many Christians were praying to God’s help in having one leader over another. One promised to fight for the plight of conservatives, while the other caused some to fear that they would lose their freedoms. Yet, many Christians may have prayed the wrong type of prayer. We should have prayed that God would be our King and whomever He deemed to rule this nation, and for His will to be done. Many prayed for a political party instead of praying for God’s righteousness to be established across the land. On the surface, many strides seem to have gone in the right direction, but is this just an illusion? We have transgender males who have more rights than real women. We have a major increase in Christian and conservative voices being thrown off of social media platforms. We have more civil unrest than ever before with ANIFTA, anti-Trump supporters, and politicians encouraging people to be unpeaceful. We have so much corruption being exposed with possibly even our top leaders being involved with pedophiles like Jeffery Epstein and more. We seem to have more swamp creatures than what’s possible to drain. And now, we have tariff wars with China, sanctions on Russia, involvement in the overthrowing of the Venezuelan government, North Korea restarting tests, Iranian threats, and a nation ever so divided with attempts that are continuously trying to overthrow our president. Did we indeed pray the wrong prayer instead of praying for God to be the One to rule our nation once again? Something to ponder….
