Healing of the Mind
God
had allowed the Israelites to be taken captive by Nebuchadnezzar, king of
Babylon, due to their idolatry and rebellion. King Nebuchadnezzar was a heathen
king but knew of the God of Heaven due to having Godly subjects in his kingdom –
Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, and Daniel. They represented the Lord in all their
ways and set a righteous example before the king of Babylon. God had
tremendously blessed King Nebuchadnezzar’s kingdom, for he had been a tool
which God used to administer judgment all throughout the land. Unfortunately, Nebuchadnezzar
allowed his success to go to his head instead of being humble and giving God the
glory for his many accomplishments. Therefore, God sent him a dream of warning
concerning his heart of pride. Daniel 4:14-16 He called in a loud voice: ‘Cut down the
tree and trim off its branches; strip off its leaves and scatter its fruit. Let
the animals flee from under it and the birds from its branches, but let the
stump and its roots, bound with iron and bronze, remain in the ground, in the
grass of the field. “ ‘Let him be drenched with the dew of heaven, and let him
live with the animals among the plants of the earth. Let his mind be changed
from that of a man and let him be given the mind of an animal, till seven times
pass by for him.’ ”(NIV)
The
dream that King Nebuchadnezzar had was in regards to his future, but he did not
understand its meaning, so he called his astrologers, magicians and others who
practiced magic arts, but they were unable to interpret the dream’s meaning. Nebuchadnezzar
finally sent for the Prophet Daniel to interpret the dream for him. Daniel
4:25 You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild
animals; you will eat grass like cattle and be drenched with the dew of heaven.
Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is
sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes. (NIV)
God was going to turn King Nebuchadnezzar into a beast of the field because of
his lack of humility, but first, God gave him a warning. God never sends a
judgment without giving a warning first and allowing for the person to have an opportunity
to make a sincere change. Daniel 4:27 Therefore, O king, be
pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and
your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your
prosperity will continue. (NIV)
In
giving this dream as a warning, there was the chance for King Nebuchadnezzar to
turn from his heart of pride. Unfortunately, he did not do so, and a year
later, his dream came true. King Nebuchadnezzar was turned into a beast and was
thrown out of the kingdom until his seven years of banishment had ended. After
which, Jehovah Rophe promised to heal and restore him once he acknowledged Him
as the Giver of all things, including setting up kingdoms and tearing them
down. Daniel 2:21 He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and
deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.
(NIV) Jehovah Rophe, Lord our Healer, healed King Nebuchadnezzar’s mind
and he was then able to be restored to his kingdom. Jehovah Rophe had to teach
Nebuchadnezzar that He is the Creator, the Blessing Giver, and a Healer, for
without Him, he would have had nothing. Jehovah Rophe, Lord our Healer, gave the
once prideful king back his right state of mind, but it called for him to
acknowledge who Jehovah was first. Daniel 4:37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar,
praise and exalt and glorify the King of heavens, because everything he does is
right, and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to
humble. (NIV)
There
are times when the devil will try to entice us to have a heart of pride just as
he had in Heaven which resulted in his downfall. The education you may have, the
job making good money, the dream home and/or the latest vehicle may be some of
the things that the devil may use to fill your heart with pride. There are
times when pride is not necessarily attached to physical possessions, but it is
displayed with not having the ability to say, “I’m sorry.” Nevertheless,
Jehovah Rophe, Lord our Healer, can heal and restore the mind to be like Him. He
can replace the mind of pride to be one of humility. It is a choice if one sincerely requested it. All you have to do is
pray and allow Jehovah Rophe to heal, restore, and direct your path. Proverbs
3:6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
(NIV)
