Healer of the Dead
Jeremiah 17:14 Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed;
save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise. (NIV)
The
prophet Elijah had prophesied to the wicked King Ahab that there would be a
lack of rain on the land. Unfortunately, he and some of the other kings of
Israel and Judah did not follow the ways of the Lord. They brought about idol
worship and caused the Children of Israel to sin by dishonoring God. King Ahab was such a king who married an evil
woman, Jezebel, and worshipped idols with her instead of worshipping the one true
God; therefore, the land endured a drought when Elijah prayed for rain to be withheld,
which caused plants not to grow and food to be scarce. Nevertheless, God
ensured that His prophet, Elijah, was taken care of during this time by
commanding the ravens to feed him. 1 Kings 16:6 The ravens brought him
bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank
from the brook. (NIV)
Some time had passed, and the Lord
told Elijah to leave the place where he had been, for He had commanded a widow
to supply Elijah with food. Elijah met the widow and asked for a drink of water
and to have something to eat. The widow told Elijah that she only had enough
flour and oil for she and her son to have one more meal and then they would
prepare to die. However, Elijah let the widow know that her supply of flour and
oil would not run dry until God sent rain. The widow obeyed, and they all had
enough to eat.
After
some time had passed, the widow’s son grew deathly ill. He eventually died. The
widow questioned Elijah as to her son’s death – feeling as if God had some
vendetta against her because of her sins. Elijah told the widow to give her son
to him and he carried the boy to his upstairs room. Elijah cried out to Jehovah
Rophe for the restoration of life to be brought back into the child’s lifeless
body. 1 Kings 17:21 Then he stretched himself out on the boy three
times and cried to the Lord, “O Lord my God, let this boy’s life return to
him!” Jehovah Rophe heard Elijah’s plea, and the boy’s life was
restored. Jehovah showed that He is the Life Giver and the Healer of our mortal
bodies. Our bodies may break down from various ailments, but the Lord was the Manufacturer
of them, so He knows every cell, bone, and organ that it takes to operate
properly. Nothing is too hard for God.
The
ultimate miracle that Jehovah Rophe performed was when He resurrected His own
son from the dead. Jesus was sent to earth to die for the sins of mankind, but
it couldn’t end with just His death. There had to be a resurrection. John
2:19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in
three days.” (NIV) The Jews thought that Jesus was speaking of the
physical temple, but He was talking about Himself. Jehovah Rophe was going to
raise Him up after He had been dead for three days. Jesus went to the cross and
died, but Jehovah Rophe raised Him back to life early Sunday morning. Luke
24:1-8 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women
took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone
rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they
did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this,
suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In
their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men
said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here;
he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:
’The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified
and on the third day be raised again.’ They remembered his words. (NIV)
Jehovah Rophe raised Jesus back to
life showing that all Power was in His hands over death and hell. The devil did
not want Salvation to be given to the lost, but Jesus’ death and resurrection
gave us the ability to have Salvation through Him where we would have abundant
life. John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I
have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (NIV)
Jehovah Rophe gave Jesus the keys to death and hell because He conquered it;
therefore, it has no hold over us as well. Revelation 1:18 I am the Living One;
I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of
death and Hades. (NIV)
What
situation are you facing that you have nearly given up on because it seems to
be dead? Do you have an illness and you need good health to arise once again in
your life? Do you have a dream that you allowed to die because the fulfillment
of it seems too impossible? Has your spiritual life died because you have been
too consumed with the things of this world? Is a relationship dead and you are
on your way to parting ways? Ask Jehovah Rophe to heal your situation. He is
the Creator of Life and He is the Healer of dead situations. What is impossible
for man is made possible by and through Jehovah Rophe. All you have to do is
believe in Him and have faith. Luke 1:37 For nothing is impossible
with God. (NIV)
