Read the Bible in a Year (14SEP19)

DAILY REMINDER – Today, September 14’s Bible reading is Ezekiel 46-48.

NEXT DAY REMINDER – Tomorrow, September 15’s Bible reading is Daniel 1-3. May God bless you with the reading of His WORD.

EZEKIEL MOMENT – (14SEP19) But when the people come in through the north gateway to worship the Lord during the religious festivals, they must leave by the south gateway. And those who entered through the south gateway must leave by the north gateway. They must never leave by the same gateway they came in, but must always use the opposite gateway” (Ezekiel 46:9). In Ezekiel’s vision, the Lord gave him instructions regarding the construction of the temple, the work of the priests and Levites, as well as worship before Him. Most of what God had given to Ezekiel was the same instructions that He had laid out for Moses with the exception of how the Levites would do their work. Zadok’s family were the only ones who would be allowed to serve before the Lord since the other Levites had rebelled. The Levites who had been unfaithful were only able to serve the people, but they could never serve before the Lord. The Lord also told Ezekiel how the people were to enter and exit when they came for worship during religious festivals. They were not to exit out of the same gate that they came in. If they entered from the north gate, they had to leave to the south. If they entered from the south gate, they had to exit to the north. There is an important lesson that we can learn from this. When we come before the Lord, we are not to leave the way that we came.

The Bible says: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). When we come to Christ, there is to be a change in us. The old things are passed away, and all things become new in Him. We are not to look, act, talk, walk, and live the same as we did before knowing Christ. There should be a noticeable change about us in all that we do. In other words, we come to Christ one way, and we leave wrapped in a whole new light. Jesus came so that we may have life and be free from the chains that once held us bound. In our new freedom, there is life eternal as we wait on the glorious day of the Lord. Will you be ready? Something to ponder….

QUESTION OF THE DAY - (14SEP19) As you reflect on what you have learned in Ezekiel, what have you learned about God that you may not have known before, or have become more knowledgeable about Him in? Has the Book of Ezekiel caused you to reflect on your own relationship with God? What can you take from this book to help you in being a witness to others? Something to ponder….
