1.) INTRO—Stephen Collins Allegedly Confesses on Tape

Matthew 18:6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. (NIV)

What is Child Molestation?

It is a form of child abuse when an adult or older adolescent uses a child for sexual stimulation. This includes body contact such as kissing, oral, anal and vaginal sex, showing private parts, forcing children to watch pornography, pressuring children for sex, having sex in front of children, and exploiting children for pornography and/or prostitution. (www.facts.randomhistory.com)

Facts

U.S. 1 out of 4 girls and 1 out of 6 boys are sexually abused.

70-73% of sexual abusers were abused themselves as children.

30% of child sexual abusers are family members.

Less than 50% of all sexual assaults on children are reported.

1.8 million children are said to be involved in pornography and prostitution.

Africa has 34.4% of sexual abuse, America and Asia 10.1 – 23.9% and Europe 9.2%

According to a prospective study, it found that child sexual abuse was associated the adult homosexual behavior for males, but not necessarily for females. 68% of  the present of homosexual male participants and 38% of the present homosexual female participants did not identify as homosexual until after the molestation. This suggests that if molestation resulted in homosexuality, this phenomenon occurs in a greater proportion of male homosexuals. Perhaps children or adolescents with a higher potential for homosexual behavior are more likely to enter a situation that leads to same-sex molestation.

Matthew 18:2-5 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said; “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. (NIV)

Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. (NIV)

Psalm 127:1,3-5 Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. (3) Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court. (NIV)

Some Causes of Sin in Society is “sometimes” linked to Child Sexual Abuse

James 4:17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. (ESV)

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality (pedophiles) , impurity (something that ruins the uncontaminated nature of something—like a child), sensuality (the enjoyment, expression, or pursuit of physical, especially sexual pleasure), idolatry (extreme admiration, fetishism, glorification), sorcery (evil spirit—sexual attraction to kids), enmity (hate, resentment, hostility towards natural affection), strife (very angry or violent caused by the devil in regards to what was done to them), jealousy (an emotion and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety), fits of anger , rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (ESV)

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Or do you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexuality immoral, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. (ESV)

4.) BREAK—Child Sexual Abuse in the Church-Prevention

God’s Take on Abuse

Children are to be taught in the way of the Lord and those who are over them should never abuse their authority.

Proverbs 22:15 Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. (NIV)

Colossians 3:21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged. (NIV)

If you are an Abuser, ACKNOWLEDGE that you have PROBLEM.

Hebrews 4:15-16 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (NIV)
James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (NIV)

Psalm 32:3-5 When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of the summer. Then I acknowledge my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin. (NIV)

Restoration

God wishes that all be restored back to Him regardless of the sin that they have committed. Even though we may have to suffer the consequences of our actions down here on earth, the most important matter is that we are reconciled back to Him in order to gain entrance into His Heavenly Kingdom.

Acts 3:19-21 Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago.
