Sins of America

 

           One of the many mistakes that Judah made when you read the Old Testament is that they ignored the warnings of the prophets. God sent prophets, seers, and watchmen to urge the people to repent and turn from their sins, but Judah was defiant, rebellious, and wicked. Despite seeing how God dealt with Israel, they were complacent and satisfied with their idolatry. They thought they could worship God with their mouths, not their hearts. They preferred their idols of wood, stone, and precious metals over the one true God who created and delivered them from Egypt. They had seen how the Lord judged Israel and allowed them to go into captivity to be scattered across the nations for the same sins they were committing, yet, they did not turn away from them. The Bible says: “So they left all the commandments of the Lord their God, made for themselves a molded image and two calves, made a wooden image and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. And they caused their sons and daughters to pass through the fire, practiced witchcraft and soothsaying, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger” (2 Kings 17:16-17). You could go as far as to say that they dared the Lord to do anything about their behavior. Well, He did, but they were not happy with His response, for they were exiled to Babylon under the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar.

            America is operating in the same manner. This nation has been blessed beyond measure where we have been the land of the free and home of the brave to all who wanted to enter our shores. The land of opportunity has been plentiful, where dreams could be made into realities. Yet, despite having churches on every corner, Bibles available to all, and knowing the decrees of the Lord on which this nation was “supposed” to be founded, America has become like an adulterous wife and has turned her back to the Lord. Consequently, as it was with Israel and Judah, so shall it be with America, who has become Babylon the Great. The Bible says: “A second angel followed and said, ‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great,’ which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries” (Revelation 14:8).

         This nation is in a downward spiral, speedily heading towards her end, and the sad thing is that all the nations see it except her. Yet, she toils away in her filth, lies, corruption, murder, sexual immorality, greed, idolatry, and more. Sadly, most pastors are nothing more than fairy godmothers from children’s fairytales, granting sparkles with wands for the little ones to be appeased, and have failed to warn the church and the world of what lies ahead. Even so, all who have taken the evil path will find they will be lost should they fail to repent. Your politicians cannot save you because they cannot even save themselves. The pastors cannot save you because most are like greedy dogs (Isaiah 56:11). So, you can foolishly follow the one who follows the bunny and stand for the one who thinks he cannot be trumped, but the day of reckoning is near. Therefore, turn to the Lord, who is the only one who can save, while there is still time. The Bible says: “As has just been said: ‘Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion” (Hebrews 3:15).
