DAILY REMINDER – Today, November 27’s Bible reading is Romans 11-13.
NEXT DAY REMINDER – Tomorrow, November 28’s Bible reading is Romans 14-16.
May God bless you with the reading of His WORD.
ROMANS MOMENT – (27NOV19) “Let everyone be subject to the governing
authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.
The authorities that exist have been established by God” (Romans 13:1).
In 2008, numerous alternative news outlets
reported on FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) recruiting 28,000 pastors
around the nation to take part in a “continuity of government Marshal Law” training.
Of course, mainstream media would not dare report the truth regarding such
matters because they are, for the most part, government and deep state run and
operated. This training, however, was to teach pastors how to manage their
congregations in the event of a national emergency, in which, FEMA would be in
control, and laws as we know them would be subjected to their policing. Part of
this training included FEMA telling the pastors to use Romans 13 to manage
their congregations, which in turn, would make it easier to have people to
disregard their constitutional rights and submit to tyranny. Now, they did not phrase
it in these exact words, but this was the sum of it in plain English. Therefore,
if FEMA required that American citizens take vaccinations, go to their camps,
or some other unconstitutional requirement, the pastor’s members would be
programmed, through the distortion of Scripture, to obey. Nevertheless, what
was the Apostle Paul really saying here in this text?
Throughout the book of Romans, the
Apostle Paul gave sound counsel to the church in Rome as to how they were to be
towards God and each other. The new Gentile converts were accustomed to having
laws, but they needed to know what God expected of them as it pertained to
living holy. Rome eventually fell, and many historians have written that part
of what contributed to its fall was there being a lack of morality within their
society and government corruption. Paul’s purpose for writing Romans 13 was to
let the church know that part of serving God and one another included being
productive citizens of society by obeying its laws. When God gave Moses the Ten
Commandments, we can see that He had rules as they pertain to not harming one’s
fellow brother. God included such things as: “Thou shall not kill, steal, commit
adultery, bear false witness, etc.” (Genesis 20:3-17).
A civil society cannot thrive if
there is a lack of order and should its citizens have no regard for each other.
The Children of Israel were to be an example for the rest of the world to be
able to model after – being that they were God’s chosen people. Therefore, God
gave them the Law so that they would know what He expected of them, and they
were to guide their lives accordingly. The Apostle Paul wrote: “What
shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not
have known what sin was had it not been for the law…” (Romans 7:7). Laws
are needed for a civil society and to punish those who live in contrast of what
would be a benefit to its citizens as a whole. There is, however, some
exceptions to this text that Christians should be made aware of.
Any law that a nation makes that
goes against the laws of God are not to be followed. We see that the apostles faced
this when they were told not to preach in the name of Jesus. The Bible says: “Then
they called them in again and commanded them not to speak in the name of Jesus.
But Peter and John replied, ‘Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or
to him? You be the judges! As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we
have seen and heard’ ” (Acts 4:18-20). The apostles had to disobey the
order that they were given because it went against what Jesus had told them to
do and they were to obey God over man. The Jewish religious leaders who had ordered
this were corrupt, however, and they followed in the path of their ungodly
ancestors.
The Lord rebuked Israel during a
time when both their spiritual and governmental leaders were corrupt. The Bible
says: “Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and
her prophets tell fortunes for money…” (Micah 3:11). Whenever there is corruption
in one’s government, and the leaders are not honoring God, those who are
believers are to speak up against such things and not obey anything that goes
contrary to the laws of God. For example, our government wants to say that gay
marriage is the law of the land. Well, what does God have to say about that? “That
is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife and they
become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). God is the Founder, Originator, and
Creator of marriage. Therefore, when He gave Adam a wife, He did not make a
mistake in giving him a woman as his mate. Marriage was and will always be
between one man and one woman as God originally intended for it to be. No
government law can change what God ordained himself.
Let’s take a look at another thing that
will come into play for the entire world. The world is moving closer by the day
to a one-world government along with a one-world currency and a one-world
religion. We see evidence of this with the United Nations not wanting nations
to have borders, the monetary system instituting digital currency, and Pope Francis
going about uniting wiccans, Buddhists, Muslims, Catholics, and other faiths claiming
that we all worship the same God. Well, what does the Bible have to say about
this? “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one
comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Regardless of what
entity says otherwise, there is only one way to the Father and that is through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Nevertheless, the government will not stop there because
there will be laws made for everyone to take the mark of the beast. God, however,
has warned against this and anyone who takes this mark will go to hell with no exceptions.
We will be visiting this topic in upcoming chapters. Until such time, we must
be mindful that we are to obey the law until it has us to go against God’s laws.
When either of them conflict, God’s laws always take precedence. Something to
ponder….
