Who is God?
King of kings and Lord of lords
“On his robe and
on his thigh, he has this name written; KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelation
19:16).
God
kept His promise with Adam and Eve to send a Savior to save His people from
their sins. The fall of man put into motion a plan that the Godhead devised, so
that man would not be eternally lost. The Bible says, “And I will put enmity between
you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head
and you will strike his heel" (Genesis 3:15). The devil had
accomplished his diabolical plan to corrupt God’s creation, but all was not
lost. Jesus would take on the weight of the world upon His shoulders and His
kingdom would have no end. The Bible says, “Of the increase of his government
and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his
kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that
time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this” (Isaiah
9:7).
God
sent Jesus by way of the Holy Spirit to be born of Mary as a vessel to bring
about the promise. Centuries had gone by from the time the promise had
originally been made to Eve, but it was eventually fulfilled. Jesus, being all
God and man, came in a way that the world did not expect Him. The Bible says, “You
will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name
Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord
God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the
house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end” (Luke 1: 31-33). Many
thought that he would arrive in royalty and with great wealth and riches to
destroy their enemies who had suppressed them. At the time of Jesus’ arrival,
the Jews were under the rule of the Roman Empire. Therefore, they expected a
Savior who would finally free them from this clad hand. Unfortunately, they did
not recognize Him when He finally came. The Bible says, “He
grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He
had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that
we should desire him” (Isaiah 53:2-3).
Instead
of being born into wealth and luxury, He was born of meager means. Mary gave
birth amongst stable animals where they probably smelled of urine and feces.
Joseph and Mary were not part of a large dynasty, but where regular people from
the line of David. Even this did not give them the status that many thought
Jesus would have attained. The Bible says, “While they were there, the time
came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She
wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for
them in the inn” (Luke 2:6-7). The Jews preconception of how the Savior
was to come blinded them as to who He was when He finally arrived. Therefore,
they rejected Him because they did not truly know God and because they did not
know Him; they did not know His Son. The Bible says, “He
was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with
suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we
esteemed him not” (Isaiah 53:3).
Despite
the rejection that Jesus encountered from the Jews, He still healed the sick,
raised the dead, gave sight to the blind and caused the deaf to speak. He
forgave the sins of the lost, encouraged the weary and gave hope to the
oppressed. Jesus was everything to everyone who accepted Him as the Son of God.
He taught people about the love of God and what God desired for their lives. He
set the perfect example even when under scrutiny from the religious leaders in
His midst. He was accused of wrong, but their accusations were without merit,
for Jesus showed them the humility of a child and the leadership of a King. The
Bible says, “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” When they
hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no
threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly” (1 Peter
2:22-23).
At
the end of His 3 ½ years of ministry on earth, He was treated worse than a
common criminal, and yet, He never said one wrong word. He was betrayed by a
friend, denied by one he loved, abandoned by his followers, and was rejected
over a thief. He was mocked, humiliated, beat, and abused in a manner too
horrible to adequately put into words, due to the suffering He had to endure. The
Bible says, “Those who passed by hurled insults at him,
shaking their heads and saying, “So! You who are going to destroy the temple
and build it in three days, come down from the cross and save yourself! Let
this Christ, this King of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see
and believe.” Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him” (Mark 15:29-32).
Nevertheless,
His final words were those of forgiveness towards those who had done Him wrong.
He died but rose again on the third day
and completed the work that the Father had for Him to do. Jesus had conquered
death and hell. The Bible says, “After Jesus said this, he looked
toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son that
your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he
might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal
life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you
have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me
to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with
you before the world began” (John 17:1-5). Therefore, the devil was finally defeated.
Satan knew that the countdown was on until he would be no more. Herod could not
kill Him; people could not discourage Him; religious leaders could not provoke
Him; beatings could not break Him; nails could not bind Him; the tomb could not
keep Him, and the devil could not defeat Him.
The
Father gave all power to the Son in Heaven and on Earth. He came as a humble Lamb
the first time, but this time, He will be coming back as the King of kings and
Lord of lords. He will render judgment upon the wicked kings of the earth and
rescue His children from the evils of this world. The Bible says, “For
he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has
appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead”
(Acts 17:31). No one will be able to defeat Him, and even those who
crucified Him will be able to see Him coming back in the air with all power in
His hands. Many will run in fear due to the brightness of His coming. They will
plead for the mountains and rocks to hide them from His appearance. The Bible
says, “Then the kings of the earth, the princes,
the generals, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and every free man hid in
caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and
the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the wrath of the Lamb!” (Revelation
6:15-16). Nevertheless, those who are ready will gladly embrace His
long-awaited arrival.
No
one will be able to deny Him. Everyone will have to bow before Him in
acknowledgement that He indeed is the King of kings and Lord of lords. The
Bible says, “It is written: ‘As surely as I live,’ says
the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God’ ”
(Romans
14:11). The prince of this world will finally have an end to his reign
of terror, and those whose names are written in the Book of Life will receive
their due reward, along with those whose names were omitted. The dragon, beast,
and his false prophet will be thrown into the lake of fire where they will
never be able to deceive anyone else. The Bible says, “And
the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where
the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and
night for ever and ever” (Revelation 20:10).
There
will be no more tears, sorrow, pain, sickness, disease, and death. There will
be no more anger, murder, greed, theft, lying, sexual immorality and
witchcraft. All of these things will be forgotten, and sin will be no more in
the new heaven and earth. The Bible says, “He will wipe every tear from
their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the
old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, “I
am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are
trustworthy and true” (Revelation 20:4-5). There will be no more
marriage, animal verses prey, hunger for meat, or tiredness from work. We will
have on new bodies and all things will be made new.
The
sheep will be able to lay next to the lion, the rabbit next to the wolf, and no
one will be in fear from any of God’s creatures. This old world will be done
away with for God has promised to create a new Heaven and a new Earth. The King
of kings and Lord of lords will forever reign and no one will be able to
overthrow His kingdom. He is our Savior, Redeemer, Mediator, High Priest, and
Judge. The Bible says, “Which God will bring about in his own time –
God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone
is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can
see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen” (1 Timothy 6:15-16). All
that we will ever need is wrapped solely in Him. He is an Everlasting Presence
and the Light of the world. There will be no need for the sun or moon in the
new Heaven and Earth because the Light from His glory will shine for all
eternity. The Bible says, “There will be no more night. They will not
need the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will
reign for ever and ever” (Revelation 22:5).
Do
you want to meet Jesus? Do you want to see His face? Do you want to experience
His glory? Do you want to live with Him throughout all eternity? If so, give
your heart to Him TODAY. He loves and cares for you. He died so that you may
live. He paid a debt that you would have never been able to pay, but through
His blood, you have been redeemed. All you have to do is accept Him, repent,
and be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord
to reign Supreme in your heart, for He is only a prayer away. Who is God? He is
the King of kings and Lord of lords.
