Prayer for a Wicked Nation

Prayer

 

Lord, you blessed us to become a mighty nation.  You allowed Your hand to be upon this land as no other nation, other than Israel, had experienced before. We were founded upon You, for You served as our Foundation, our Rock, and our Reason for being. Blessed were we in such a manner, that we too were able to be a blessing to all who reached our shores. Our beginnings were not perfect, and deeds were done wrong to other human beings, but You, in all your mercy, did not forsake this land.  

Unfortunately, we as a nation have forsaken You, Almighty God. We have rejected Your laws, Your ways, and Your will for our nation. We’ve allowed greed, sexual immorality, worship of foreign gods, and unsightly abominations to be promoted in our government, churches, schools, homes, and other parts of society.

Instead of obeying You, we have called evil things good and good things evil. We have mocked those who dare to stand up for You and have threatened other nations, with whom do not agree with our sins, to withhold the very blessings that You have bestowed upon us. Oh, how wicked we have become.

Our nation’s government can no longer be trusted due to corruption at all levels. Many of our nation’s churches are no more than cesspools for sin. Many of our homes are training grounds for future devils, and many educational systems have become higher learnings of filth.

Oh, that we deserve the judgment that is bound to fall upon such a wicked nation. We have shunned the True Word for speeches filled with lies. Truth is shunned, morality disgraced, honor is shamed, and wickedness abounds. May You have mercy upon this land which has replaced You with the god of this world.
