Jehovah El Nose Is the Only
One Who Can Restore Me to Forgiveness
Matthew
6:12-13 Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead
us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. (NIV)
When the disciples asked Jesus how should they pray,
He gave them a model to follow by giving them what we call the Lord’s prayer.
Let’s break this prayer down from Matthews 6:9-13, so we can see the importance
of forgiveness in Jehovah El Nose’s eyes and how He can restore us to a
position of forgiveness for others and consequently, receiving that same
forgiveness ourselves.
a.) Matthew 6:9 “Our Father in
Heaven, hallowed be your name.” (NIV)
Jesus wanted us to acknowledge that God is our Father
and that His name was and still is Holy. Psalm 105:3 Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. (NIV) We are to come to Him in all humility and
reverence. Therefore, this allows us to acknowledge that we are nothing without
Him, for He is our Creator and we are His creation. When we acknowledge God as
the Ultimate Authority over us, we can understand that if the Lord of Host can
forgive us, who are nothing in comparison to Him, how much more can we do to
each other? 1 Samuel 2:2 There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one
besides you; there is no Rock like our God.
b.) Matthew 6:10 “Your
kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (NIV)
We as Christians should have a deep desire to go to
Heaven and see our Lord and Savior. John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a
place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be
where I am. (NIV) The only way to do this is to allow Jehovah El Nose
to help mend our hurting hearts that may be carrying grudges and unforgiveness in
them. No one can enter Heaven if there is unforgiveness in the heart. God’s
will for our lives has to be done on earth prior to us ever entering Heaven.
There will not be any sin allowed to enter Heaven; therefore, due to
unforgiveness being a sin, no one who continues to flow in this will have their
names written in the book of Life. Anyone’s name who is in the Lamb’s book of
Life will be thrown into the pit of hell. Revelation 12-15 (12)And I
saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were
opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were
judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. (13)The
sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that
were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. (14)Then
death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the
second death. (15)If anyone’s name was not found written in the book
of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (NIV)
c.) Matthew 6:11 “Give us
today our daily bread.” (NIV)
Allowing Jehovah El Nose to
speak to us through His word helps with the healing process of forgiveness. The
Word of God was given to change hearts and lives. If one is truly in Christ,
then a pricking of the heart will take place and change will occur. 2
Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching,
rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may
be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (NIV) There are numerous
scriptures in the Bible that tells of the forgiving power of Jehovah El Nose.
We cannot walk fully in the authority that Christ gives if we do not allow Him
to change every aspect of our being. Unforgiving hearts will hinder the work of
the Holy Spirit in our lives. Colossians 3:13-14 Bear with each
other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive
as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds
them all together in perfect unity. (NIV) It doesn’t matter how much we
attend church, work in ministry, or the title that we hold, if we can’t forgive
then God will not even answer our prayers. We must study His word to have a
relationship with Jehovah El Nose who teaches us how to forgive.
d.) Matthew 6:12 Forgive us
our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. (NIV)
When Jesus went to the cross, He paid the debts of sin
that we owed. He had done no wrong, but He loved us so much that He was willing
to take on our debts and wipe them completely clean. Every day, Jehovah El Nose
gives us a new slate when we ask for forgiveness. He does not hold our sins
against us when we sincerely come before Him and confess what we have done. He
does not tally them in an effort to keep record, but once we repent, they are
remembered no more. Lamentations 3:22-23 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not
consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is
your faithfulness. (NIV) Therefore, when Jesus told the disciples to
pray this prayer, He included forgiveness as part of it because God will not
hear and answer our prayers if we have not forgiven others just as He forgives
us. Our prayers are worthless when come before God and have not forgiven our
fellow brother.
1 John 4:20-21 If anyone says, “I love
God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his
brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has
given us this command:
e.) Matthew 6:13 And lead us
not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. (NIV)
Jesus was not saying in the above text that God tempts
us because He is not one who tempts His children. It is the sin in us that
allows us to yield to temptation. James 1:13-14 When tempted, no one
should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does
he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is
dragged away and enticed. (NIV) The devil does not want us
to forgive others. He loves the idea of hate and because he knows that this
will keep us out of Heaven, he does all he can to block us from being in
perfect harmony with God. However, he can only do this if we allow him to do
so. This is what is meant by not being led into temptation, but delivering us
from the evil one.If we resist the seed of unforgiveness
from being planted into our hearts and minds, the devil cannot take root in our
lives. He will have to leave because any seed that is not nourished will die. James
4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee
from you. (NIV)
Jehovah El Nose is the only One who can help a person
to have the desire for forgiveness. It is not a choice, but a must for us to
forgive. If we are indeed the Children of God, we must have a desire to allow
the Spirit of God to lead and direct us in the area of forgiveness. Because
Jehovah El Nose is love, because Jehovah El Nose offers forgiveness, we have an
example to go by because He has given it to us and therefore, we must give it
to others.
