Delilah the Female Judas Iscariot
Judges 16:6 So Delilah said to Samson, “Please tell me what makes you so strong and what it would take to tie you up securely.” (NLT)
Samson was a man who had been chosen by God from birth to deliver the Children of Israel out of the hands of the Philistines. His mother had been given special instructions prior to his birth in order to prepare him for his future mission. Judges 13:2-5 (2) In those days a man named Manoah from the tribe of Dan lived in the town of Zorah. His wife was unable to become pregnant, and they had no children. (3) The angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah’s wife and said, “Even though you have been unable to have children, you will soon become pregnant and give birth to a son. (4) So be careful; you must not drink wine or any other alcoholic drink nor eat any forbidden food. (5) You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and his hair must never be cut. For he will be dedicated to God as a Nazirite from birth. He will begin to rescue Israel from the Philistines.” (NLT) The Israelites repeatedly defied God by worshiping false gods. Therefore, God punished them each time by allowing one of their sworn enemies to overtake them and subject them to captivity. Nevertheless, God’s love for them never faltered and once they cried out to God for relief, He always answered and sent them a deliverer. Samson was born to fulfill this mission by being a judge and deliverer, but his love for a certain female became his downfall.
Samson met and fell in love with a woman named Delilah. Little did he know that the feelings were not mutual, but she had been approached by the Philistines to obtain the secret to his incredible strength because they thought of him to be a major threat that needed to be eliminated. Judges 16:5 The rulers of the Philistines went to her and said, “Entice Samson to tell you what makes him so strong and how he can be overpowered and tied up securely. Then each of us will give you 1,100 pieces of silver.” (NLT) Delilah agreed to betray Samson for the right price by using her spirit of seduction to accomplish the task. After a couple of tries, Samson eventually told her that the secret to his strength was in not cutting his hair. That was the worst mistake of his life and eventually, it led to the end of it. The betrayal of a woman led to the death of a man.
There are many people in life who have seducing and betraying spirits like Delilah. They are not around you to uplift you, but secretly desire your spiritual and even physical demise. You may find that the ones who are the closest to you are the ones who become the Judas in your life and will betray you for the right price. This is why we are to ask the Potter for discernment as to the people who we allow to come into our inner circle. Amos 3:3 Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction? (NLT) Everyone who walks with you is not for you. Judas walked with Jesus but was not for Him. Allow the Potter to bless you with people are spiritually sound, loyal, and have your best interest at heart.
