To the SINGLES

To the SINGLES...

I very seldom talk on this issue, but I wanted to bring a word of encouragement to all the singles out there. This is not the time of year to settle for less than God’s best for you. But, unfortunately, society makes a big deal out of being “coupled,” especially around the holiday season, which can sometimes cause some singles to experience depression and loneliness. Nevertheless, this can only take root IF you allow it to penetrate your soul. I am 46 years old and have never been married, nor do I have any children. Would I love to be married and have my own family? Of course! Yet, I thank God for keeping me from taking a path that could have led to unhappiness, grief, and pain that so many people have gone through by being united in matrimony to the wrong person.

I have learned over the years that it is best to wait for God’s man or woman of promise than to settle for the spiritual Ishmael. If marriage is God’s will for you, because some people He has given the gift of singleness to, then WAIT on Him. During your singleness, no matter how long that is, fall in love with Jesus. Then, allow Him to work on you so that if and when He brings that person into your life, you will be the spouse that He has called for you to be. Relationships are hard work, but when you work on your relationship with God FIRST, He will bless you with the relationship He desires for you to have in HIS timing per His will. I pray that this encourages someone because I choose to WAIT on God’s best for my life, and I pray that you do the same. The Bible says: “But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).
