Who is God?

Who is God?

Imagine a world without beauty. There are no trees with leaves to give off fresh oxygen to breath. The ground has no grass to sway with the wind. Flowers do not exist where the bees can make sweet tasting honey. There are no birds that chirp and no animals to play with. The moon and stars do not give light because they do not exist and there’s no sun to light the day. There are no inhabitants on the planet and then, suddenly, you realize all that once made Earth beautiful was only a figment of your imagination. You soon come to the realization that you really don’t exist either because there was no one to create YOU.

This is how it would be in a world without God. Many of the things that we take for granted are only possible because of God’s love in creating a world for His children to enjoy. However, there are those who dare make the claim that the existence of God is questionable at best, and that there is no mysterious Being in the sky to which the creation of the universe is to be accredited to. The idea that someone was intelligent enough to form a perfect universe with people, animals, plants, and trees, not only give rise that this Being would be worthy of our adoration, but it would take the self-reliance of man’s own abilities off the shelf of pride, and allow for the submission of humility and servitude to the One and only Creator of the Universe.
Therefore, some choose to deny His existence altogether, while others believe that even if there was a higher being capable of doing such things, He must no longer exist. This belief, according to skeptics with regards to the ideology that there is a God, in their eyes, is nothing more than man’s need to have an illogical sense of belonging to an imaginary power. However, is it illogical to believe that Someone greater than yourself, was capable of creating an entire universe full of intelligence, beauty, life and love?
Who is God? Where does He live? Why can’t I see Him? When was He born? If He exists, why does He allow so much pain and suffering in the world? All of these questions and much more will be answered in the lesson that you are about to read. Let’s dig into the Word of God to understand Who God Is.

                                Who is God?
God is our Creator

Have you ever wondered about the work that goes into making the clothes that you wear? Many people in today’s modern times just go to a store, choose what they want to wear off of a rack, take it to the checkout counter, and after having taken it home, wear the item without much regard to its origins. Much has changed over the centuries when clothes were mostly tailor-made, due to the lack of mass machinery to produce such quantities of clothing. With the exception of the fabric, most clothes were unique in their design as women often made clothes for their individual families. The purchase of the fabric was just the beginning, but the creation of the clothing item would take great detail to bring to its fruition.
A seamstress has a lot of work to do when creating an outfit. From the cutting of the pattern to the assembling of unsewn pieces of fabric, there is a process of patience and great handiwork with a touch of care to be given to each design. Upon completion, the seamstress can look at the completed project with pride and say, “A job well-done.”

God, our Creator, took out time to create a whole universe for Him to love and adore. Everything that He created was beautiful and an explicit masterpiece to behold. From the birds in the sky to the fish in the sea, God ensured that the world would be filled with all kinds of living things. The Sun was created to light the day and the moon and stars to light the night; they hung in perfection in their appropriate places. However, God did something different with man, which He did not do with all His creation. He formed man from the dust of the ground with His own hands. He could have spoken man into existence, but this was a task that God wanted to do hands-on. Genesis 2:7 Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living being. (NIV) God also created the woman out of the side of the man’s ribs. God made us all unique and in the image of Him.
