El-Shaddai (Lord, God Almighty)

El-Shaddai (Lord, God Almighty)

Genesis 17:1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty, walk before me and be blameless.” (NIV)

The Babylonians were a feared group of people. They were not known for their kindness, but were known to destroy everything that crossed their path. Habakkuk 1:6-7 I am raising up the Babylonians, that ruthless and impetuous people, who sweep across the whole earth to seize dwelling placers not their own. They are feared and dreaded people; they are a law to themselves and promote their own honor. (NIV) They cared for no one but themselves and governed as they pleased. God used them to teach Israel a lesson because of their rebellion, so the Babylonians were allowed to come in and take them captive. The temple was destroyed and the things inside of it were taken as well to be placed in the temples of their foreign gods.
Despite the strength of the Babylonians, no government or human power has ever been stronger than that of El-Shaddai (Lord, God Almighty). He is a Mighty Force who cannot be reckoned with. Even Lucifer found himself powerless against the might of El-Shaddai when he tried to have a coup (overthrow of government) in Heaven. Revelation 12:7-9 And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down – that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. (NIV) This is why we are able to take any problem that we have to God in prayer. He is God Almighty. He is El-Shaddai. He never sleeps nor slumber. He can never be rendered powerless or weakened by any means.

El-Shaddai was able to part the Red Sea for the Israelites. He made the sun stand still for Joshua. He gave victory to Gideon and the Israelites over the Midianites with only 300 fighting men. He helped David to slay a giant. He causes the earth to rotate, the moon to hang high, the planets to defy gravity, and the rain to water the earth. There is nothing too hard for El-Shaddai to do. Whatever you are in need of, He has to power to bring your through.

All you have to do is believe and have faith that God can and will do the impossible in your situation. Genesis 18:14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? (NIV)
