Will You Come Into Agreement with King Ahab and Queen Jezebel?

Will You Come Into Agreement with King Ahab and Queen Jezebel?

1 Kings 16:30-31 Ahab son of Omri did more evil in the eyes of the Lord than any of those before him. He not only considered it trivial to commit the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, but he also married Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and began to serve Baal and worship him. (NIV)

Today is DECISION DAY AMERICA. Many people are headed to the poles to determine who they want to be their next leader of the free world. Both sides have debated each other and did what they could to win Americans’ vote. One did it by any means necessary rather that was by lying, cheating, scheming, possibly killing and/or what have you and the other endured massive sabotage from within the same party, media, the opponent, and others perhaps paid to bring allegations for the purpose to sway one side towards the other.
We have seen filth, destruction of character, and the vilest things that would be too sensitive for the most liberalists of ears. And yet, all of it has brought us to the day of decisions. There’s the reasonable belief that the process is ridged and that even if people place their votes, the candidate as already been “selected” and will not be “elected.” Either way, we have seen the devil at work, but God has also been at work throughout this process as well and we will see why in just a moment.

In the Bible, we find that God did not want the Children of Israel to intermarry with those from foreign nations, so that they would not compromise His laws and would remain true to Him as the only God to be worshipped.   1 Kings 11:1-2 King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughter – Moabites, Ammonites, Edonmites, Sidonians and Hittites. They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. (NIV) We find here that although King Solomon was known to be the wisest man, due to the wisdom that God had given him, he did not use his wisdom wisely in refraining from what was forbidden by God. He allowed his lust of the flesh turn him away from worshiping the only one and true God – Creator of all things.

Israel time and time again refused to remain faithful to God and therefore, turned to the worship of Baal. As their leaders did, so did the rest of the nation. Therefore, during the reign of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel, there were only a few who were faithful to God. Ahab defied God by marrying a foreign woman. His heart was not for God and therefore, he worshipped the same gods that Jezebel did, for she was the daughter Ethbaal and was a high priestess of Baal. 1 Kings 16:32 He set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal that he built in Samaria. (NIV) While Ahab was king, he decided that he was going to rebuild the walls of Jericho that God had knocked down during the leadership of Joshua. There was, however, a curse pronounced by Joshua in accordance to the will of the Lord that anyone who would attempt to rebuild Jericho’s foundation and gates would do so at the expense of their first and last born children’s lives. Although King Ahad knew full well what it would cost him, he rebuilt Jericho out of defiance and sacrificed the lives of his children. He provoked the Lord’s anger. 1 Kings 16:33 Ahab also made an Asherah pole and did more to provoke the Lord, the God of Israel to anger than did all the kings of Israel before him. (NIV)

Ahab was not the only one who did evil in the sight of God. Queen Jezebel was wicked. She hated the prophets of God. Not only did she hate them, but she did all she could to have them killed. 1 Kings 18:4 While Jezebel was killing off the Lord’s prophets, Obadiah had taken a hundred prophets and hid them in two caves, fifty in each, and had supplied them with food and water. (NIV) Queen Jezebel was of course angry that the prophet Elijah had told that there would be no rain or dew for the next few years. Therefore, she sought revenge upon the prophets of God and wanted to have them all exterminated for she considered them to be pests in comparison to her false prophets.

The prophet Elijah later had a showdown between himself and the prophets of Baal by telling King Ahab to have all 400 of them to meet him on Mount Carmel. Elijah wanted to prove to the Children of Israel that God was the only One to be served. King Ahab thought of Elijah as a nuisance and even though he and his wife were the ones who were doing wrong by being disobedient to God, King Ahab dared to call Elijah a troublemaker. 1 Kings 18:16-18 (16)So Obadiah went to meet Ahab and told him , and Ahab went to meet Elijah. (17)When he saw Elijah, he said to him, “Is that you , you troubler of Israel?” (18)”I have not made trouble for Israel,” Elijah replied. “But you and your father’s family have. You have abandoned the Lord’s commands and have followed the Baals.” (NIV)
Once Elijah and the prophets of Baal reached Mount Carmel, Elijah posed a question to the people in regards to their lack of decisiveness when it came to serving the Lord or Baal. 1 Kings 18:20  Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions. If the Lord is God, follow him, but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing. (NIV) The people were in the valley of decision. They had to either serve God or serve Baal, but they were not able to serve both. God showed up for Elijah and he had all 400 priests of Baal killed. This, however, angered Queen Jezebel and she swore that she would have him killed. 1 Kings 19:1-3 (1)Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.  (2)So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.” (3)Elijah was afraid and ran for his life….(NIV)

The Bible lets us know that even though she was not successful in killing Elijah, her reign of terror did not end. Ahab had set his eyes on a piece of land that was owned by a farmer called Naboth. The land had been in his family for many generations and King Ahab wanted to purchase the land. When Naboth refused to sell the land to him, King Ahab went away sorrowful and pouted as if he were a toddler. 1 Kings 21:4 So Ahab went home, sullen and angry because Naboth the Jezreelite had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” He lay on his bed sulking and refused to eat. (NIV) Once Queen Jezebel heard the news, she decided to take matters into her own hands. She paid people to lie on Naboth and accuse him of blaspheme against God and the king, which was punishable by death. Naboth was executed unjustly, but it did not go unseen before God and both Ahab and Jezebel had a ending with dogs.

The saying that history repeats itself is true and what we have seen take place in the Bible can be compared to what is taking place today. We find that just as King Ahab and Queen Jezebel committed idolatry against God, so have WE done the same by having every unclean abominable thing to take place within our gates, television and houses of worship. We have greed, lust, satanic worship, child sacrifice, lying, stealing, witchcraft, homosexuality, pornography, adultery, fornication, pride, selfishness, and all manners of evil taking place in the CHURCH. Yes, you probably thought I was going to say the world and even though it is taking place in the world, it is definitely taking place with those who consider themselves to be in the body of CHRIST. The world is truly going to be judged, but judgment starts with those who have been called by God’s name FIRST. 1 Peter 4:17 “For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?” (NIV) See, so many are quick to point out the wrongs in the world, but we must first begin with the sins of the CHURCH.

How is that that we have government leaders who can do wrong and there’s no accountability? Is it that we have leaders in the CHURCH who do wrong and they are not held accountable? Have priests been moved to different parishes to cover up the sins they committed against innocent children to avoid a scandal rather than be addressed? Have pastors, prophets, evangelists, apostles, and teachers committed sins that the church knows about, but have not held them up to a standard because of status and what the scandal would bring? Are some of the people in the LGBTQ community struggling with their sexual identity because someone, with whom God entrusted His children’s care to committed the vilest of acts against them?

Have we intermarried with the world in an attempt to be popular, have increased social status, obtain or get monetary gain, while condemning those who are being true to the god that they serve, as we put on a FORM of Godliness, but deny the power there of? How is it that secularism has entered the House of God when we are to be a peculiar people and set apart? We talk about how a politician would dare to have foul-mouth Jay-z and his wife to perform for impressionable young people, but we listen to artists such as Detrick Haden perform a Jay-z remix and call it “HOLY” just because he switched some words and put Jesus’ name in it, or watch trash TV such as Empire and Scandal . Is it true that many Christians will not fight for the lives of the unborn because of fear of their own condemnation, due to having killed an innocent life of their own, while claiming to be a man or woman of God?

See, there’s a lot that can be addressed in this blog that we will not have time to go into for the sake of this becoming a small book. But when we look at what’s wrong with the nation of America, we can see that it stems from what’s wrong in the Church. Many people are aligning themselves with King Ahab and Queen Jezebel right in the worship houses they call “Church” because they do not know that they are to BE the Church and not just ATTEND church. Many Christians can’t see anything wrong for voting for Hillary because they are already under the leadership of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel or they possess the spirit of the two themselves and therefore, when a prophet (a Godly one) sends a word of warning, their immediate reaction is to KILL THE PROPHET. How many of you have killed God’s true prophets because their word didn’t tickle your ears? I pray that you REPENT! The world needs to REPENT! The nation of America needs to REPENT! The Church needs to REPENT! God will not bless anyone with the spirit of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel. Just as New York set up a tribute to Baal by calling it the “Arch of the Triumph,” many Christians have redefined Baal in their hearts, but God sees all. Think before you vote today! A vote for Hillary (Jezebel) is a VOTE FOR CORRUPTION AND DEATH!
